If Tmac does not play @ Phoenix tonight, and Wells still does not get playing time - I'll be really concerned that either Bonzi or JVG is through with trying to work things out. Especially if Juwan is out too.

where are you getting Tmac possibly being out tonight??

he just got an elbow in the ribs...he came back and played fine inthe second half.

    lets not curse ourselves...ok?

As for Bonzi (or Bouncy :) )

I never liked the guy...and so far his actions dont seem to be in line for a guy who would want to particpate willingly with the team concept the Rockets are big on, so I really dont think he will be a big factor and in fact it woundt surprise me (or disappoint me) if he were traded to someone after Dec 15 ( or at the latest at the deadline)
As much as Im sure his motivated game can bring to the floor....it just doesnt look like at this time he is motivated.

Ill be fair to him if he is actually workign hard...but the few reports we have dont seem to indicate that.

Just leave it alone. Let this guy decide what to do. Right now, we are fine without him. But I like the idea to get Horry back.

We will need Bonzi in the playoff. I hope he and JVG can have whatever between them taken care of before May.

    ah ok rhad
    sry

I just read the article in the other thread...hadnt gotten to it when I posted that.

I would imagine that unless it is worse than it seems....that he will give it a shot against the SUns..he knows how badly we need him out there.

Yah - I think he will too. But they've played the "be cautious" card before.

Nevermind that my point was that if t-mac is out and bonzi is still inactive or DNP - I'll start to really be concerned. Even more so if Juwan sits.

Lopez's argument is crap. He just wrote this blog post because he loves taking the moral high ground.

JVG should talk to Wells,Tell Him team needs him to be go to deep in playoff.
Not just force him because he needs to be successful for big contract next year. NO question, wells has an issue, ut I do not understand why JVG could hand spree In New Yorker, can not hand Wells. If JVG think we are 10-4, in good shape, no need Wells anymore, then we will not go too far in playoff.

Calling Bonzi Well, no matter what happens, an "embarrassing bust" is pretty stupid. It's not like they gave him a huge contract.

I agree - move him to anyone that wants him, because he's making himself home in the doghouse, not trying to get out of it. Try and get an end of the bench guy if you can, or a 2nd round pick if you can't. He can be more damaging within the clubhouse than some might suspect and he's got a proven track record of battling coaches.

Riley wanted him before and is looking to shake up the team, so maybe we can steal Doleac in a swap once Shaq comes back. Detroit and Rasheed wanted him before and might give us as much as Carlos Delfino in return if we toss in a 2nd rounder. Cleveland might take him as Hughes insurance in exchange for a scrub like Pavolvic.

Maybe the above aren't realistic, but I think we could pawn him off in a similar manner to the Derek Anderson exile last year. We won't get talent for talent, but a try hard but limited guy beats a bad attitude no show.

    understood and agree

IF tmac is no-go AND Jho is sitting...adn we dont see Bonzi...I will really start wondering.
Even way out of shape and not familiar with his teammates Bonzi would be more desirable than tryin to survive without BOTH him and Tmac.

Props to Lopez. He successfully compares Bonzi Wells to Paris Hilton and Tom Delay. In the same article.

If Bonzi is a headcase, doesn't follow the coaches' instruction, I'd say cut him loose. I have never thought him a good fit for our team in the first place, now all these? The chemistry is often more important than the talent at the pro level since everyone has talent, the teams are so close to each other.

On the other side, JVG hasn't demonstrated his ability to coach anyone who doesn't fall into his "category", aka a JVG type player. Sometimes I wonder if this really is always the player's fault? Look at all the players have passed through since JVG was here a couple years ago, we have no one but Yao left, and TMac just fall onto his lap :D

Bonzi is not eligible to be traded until January 2nd, 2007.

So, the Rockets and Wells have a month to evaluate the situation and come up with whatever needs to be done.

Bottom line is whether Wells is willing to get himself into acceptably good shape to play.

I agree with Lopez, Bonzi is just acting like a spoiled millionaire. His contract is not big by nba standards but isn't he still being paid something like 2.5 million this season for playing a game.

    C'mon...

In reality, Bonzi seems to have gotten his act together and looks like he is close to being in shape. Once in shape he will still have to get chemistry with teammates and that stuff as well. But, then again there could always be a setback coming.

I agree. It's not like we've never had a headcase who has helped us in the past *cough* Vernon Maxwell *cough* or JVG has never had a headcase on his team before.

If he's out of shape, what better way to get him back into shape than playing him 30 minutes a game? Whether he wants to or not? Especially against Phoenix! :D

If (knock on wood) TMac goes down for any amount of time this year, we're going to need a legit 3rd scorer in the worst way. Who cares if he's a headcase? He's only a 1 year rental. May as well use him while we got him. And use him as much as possible.

    Trade Bonzi for Mobley!

Cat can be our perfect 3rd scoring option.

    Get it done!
