[Chron] Francis faulted with practice technical (due to complaints)

    Rockets guard Steve Francis on Monday had the unusual experience of getting a technical foul in a practice.


    With the Rockets playing with game-like conditions on the main Toyota Center court, Francis drew a technical foul in the fourth quarter.

    "I did it on purpose; I got a call after that," Francis said. "I told him they were cheating for Yao (Ming) and Tracy (McGrady), so he got mad at me."

    McGrady countered with: "Steve always thinks that. He thinks we get all the calls.

    "That whole team should have been T'd up today."

    Rockets coach Rick Adelman said Francis deserved the technical foul, and wants the complaining to the officials to stop.

    "The officials weren't the reason for 40 turnovers (in the practice)," Adelman said. "If that's the way you're going to do it, they're going to keep going at you and putting the screws to you."


    Too many turnovers
    The Rockets went through the simulated game Monday, hoping to cut down the turnover problems of the first two preseason games and in practices, and to help with roster decisions.

    "We've been making the same mistakes over and over," coach Rick Adelman said. " ... We turned the ball over way too many times, and it's casualness, it's not paying attention to detail, and if we continue to do that, we're going to have a hard time beating anybody."

    With six days between preseason games, Rockets players applauded a chance to play.

    "Love it," Tracy McGrady said. "It puts you in game situations, gets you ready for the regular season, different in-game situations you'll be in, to execute in game situations."

    its Francis and Tmac joking around.. everyone chill! but the TO's are for real. i doubt Francis had all 40 TO... I think the whole team is getting used to all the passing.

    40 turnovers in practice and technical ?!
    I have never seen technical foul in a practice :D

    The title scared me for a second there....I thought it was something serious...but more often than not, it was nothing. I did find it funny that Adelman told them not to complain. As I recall the Kings were the biggest whiners. :p

    It's ok I am sure it was in good spirit , we need some competitevness.
    About the turnovers we will be ok imo with time.

    Big fan of Stevie Francis here. Always has been. I can't really fault him, but the dude has a severe case of ADD... Could have been the next Isiah only if it was not for this disorder...

    Steve's a very intense and competitve guy....even in practice, he cares about winning. LOL. I do think that we are going to have an all-complaint crew what with Scola and Francis arguing refs calls.

    why do i get the feeling most of the turnovers were done by francis? Adelman sounds very similar to JVG when he was coaching Francis dont you think? :D
