Fair deal, and he could potentially come back sooner should Yao miss extended time earlier than that. I've got no problems with that. Also gives the team extended leeway with getting the roster hemmed down.

Considering Yao's recent history he will be the one playing half the season. We need Mutombo.

Well, there is talks of Cleveland interested in him. Do you think we can get something in return from Lebron's team?

truth of the matter is that he is upset that the rockets spent the rest of the mle on steve francis instead of him. morey initially offered him the veteran's minimum, which he felt insulted. morey increased the amount by offering him the bi-annual exception. but that amount is probably still not enough for him so it is my opinion that if he did accepting that figure, the only way he can justify accept that is to not play the full season.

Looks like management is doing what they can to work with Deke and keep him a Rocket.
I hope he sticks with Houston if even for only a half season. At least we know from the beginning
he will only join the team for half of it unlike Shaq and Riley who "unexpectedly" plan vacations during mid season.

great idea. we need deke down the stretch and in the playoffs. god knows we needed him to guard boozer last yr. he shut him down during the reg. season. but for whatever reason, JVG decided not to play him (fatigue?)

Lol, Deke shut Boozer down in the regular season?

I don't know if you watched the playoffs at least, but when Deke was in, he got manhandled by Boozer even more than Yao did. Scola would have been the best option to guard Boozer with Yao or Mutombo in the game.

He's a free agent, they can sign him outright for the same amount of money we can offer. So no, we can't get anything from the Cavs

This opens the door to trade rafer for a big guy (which would balance the roster) and not screw deke out of pt.

If we are able to make that kind of trade then deke might not be back at all.

i wouldnt mind 1/2 season so much but i would prefer that he be signed for the entire season and be on the IR and be with the team so he can help the chemistry along. practice along with yao etc.

really hope the team can win a ring for us and deke

he was offered limited minutes. deke is an old dude. u gotta put him out there for a lil bit. that one reg. season where tmac went off v. utah, deke shut him down. deke at least would have elbowed his ass upside da head if he wanted to dunk over him like he did over yao several times.

I don't think he fits on the team anymore. I love the guy, but unless he is going to be a serious rotational player, he is just insurance, and I would rather keep Butler.
