A lot of us wish Yao would be more vocal on the court, guess this is a good start. The better? His teammates promptly answered. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6288937.html
too bad this warrants a mention in a news article... Yao should be barking orders all game... especially on Defense.... since he is basically the last line of Defense...
A lot of things are said in a game by everyone, difference is the reporters heard everything bc of the silent crowd. Nevertheless still plz to hear Yao being vocal and getting a response.
Yeah its too bad it deserves a mention, you'd think its a given. But if its a first, better to go head and keep encouraging it. Gotta start somewhere, its NOT too late to start that up
I think this is making something out of nothing. I am sure Yao has been doing this all along this year. I had seen him telling other players what to do (or maybe what they had missed) off-and-on since early this season. At least I am assuming he does it regularly, as I can only see it when the cameraman zoomed in. But this had been shown on camera quite often.
All players talk, anyone who was actually listening could have heard the players screaming to each other the whole entire game.
Yes it is common that Yao called out a defensive play or reminded his teammates the correct positions on the court. However, you rarely saw him saying something to boost the spirit of his teammates on the court. He did that to his CNT teammates but not Rockets teammates. I am not sure if someone else noticed that, in the Chicago game, Yao was the one who spoke in the "group hug (??)" before the game began. I thought it should be Shane to take that role after Juwan Howard left. I am glad he finally came out of his "lead by sample" shell and becomes more vocal.
You know this how? Yao clearly talks every game, even pulls players to the side. The only reason why the reporter bothered mentioning it bc the corwd was extremely quiet and you could hear the players. Matt Bullard even pointed out that is was so quiet you can hear the players communicating with each other, especially on the defensive. It could have easily been a coincidence they had a run after that or maybe they responded to Yao. Either way it is not the first time Yao has spoken up.
Exactly, and let us not forget the classic announcing last night: Matt: Are we hunting rabbits? Bill: Yes ??? (thinking WTF) Matt: Because it is vewwy, vewwy quiet in here.
It was so quiet, I think I heard one of the Timberwolves Dancers fart during a timeout dance routine. See those announcers looking at each other? They heard it too!
Actually, its not the 1st time that Yao screamed to his teamates, not only in the CNT but the Rockets team, I think. its already happend several years ago. till up now, I bet its happened for times. However, he would rarely do that. Certainly, we hope this will happen more often, but, i guess it is a small possibility, unfortunately....
glad that he's being more vocal. yao's becoming the leader that he needs to be out on the court. demanding the ball more on the post, swatting away layups.
Yao becoming the vocal leader is great. It helps that TMac is out because Yao is more comfortable taking on such a role with out TMac on the court
