Forward Shane Battier held out slim hope that he might return to practice on the Rockets’ road trip. That hope is now gone. Battier had continued to step up his workload in his effort to come back from a bruised left foot. In addition to his own drills, he had gone through one-on-one and two-on-two workouts with teammates. When the swelling increased, however, the decision was made not to increase his workload. “It’s day-to-day more than ever,” Battier said. “I’m trying to test it, push it and see how I respond. I don’t have any pain, but I don’t want to lead to worse things. It really is a watch and wait and see, learn about it every day.” Team doctors had instructed Battier to slow down workouts. “He is — I think rightfully so — being cautious,” coach Rick Adelman said. “We don’t want to rush him back where we lose him for a long period of time. “He’ll let us know when he feels he can go out and practice.” Best of the West As deep as the Western Conference is with playoff contenders, Rockets coach Rick Adelman said before Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers that the defending Western Conference champs are the only favorite. “There’s no doubt,” Adelman said. “They were in the Finals last year. They get (Andrew) Bynum back. Just one more year of the whole group together. Until they prove it wrong, they’re the favorites. I think they’re the best team right now in the West. They’re going to be there all year long.” http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6103884.html Boy we sure do need him back soon, he would help free up Artest for more offense and we could put T-Mac on the bench when he plays like garbage.
Why do they keep saying he is day to day? That's not true! He's basically out indefinitely for now. A day to day injury should mean he'll be back within a week. Fix the terminology!
