So, they finally figured something out...only problem is that it will come with a $1.35 billion price tag; $900 million in taxpayer financing! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/facebook/7052515.html
A convention and science center sounds so boring. The only way tax payers would vote to spend huge amounts of money on the dome, is if they come up with something fun and exciting. This plan fails badly.
Geez do something spectacular with the stupid thing - gambling, roller coaster, IMAX, dinosaurs, Saturn V rockets, Space Shuttles, Hakeem, Earl Campbell, Elvis, and a constant Pink Floyd laser light show.
Make it an indoor golf course. Based on playing in the god awful heat these last few weeks, I'd totally put my tax dollars towards that project.
Sad that nothing has been done. I thought making it into the Dynamo's home would have been okay, or just a parking lot... Oh well.
They need to make it into a theme park, now with no more six flags, Houston needs a theme park. It would be perfect cause there is enough space for roller coasters etc. indoors.
If it will cost 88 million to tear it down then anything they do needs to MAKE money that will some day come within 100 million of breaking even with the initial costs. I seriously doubt any of these proposals can do that so my vote goes to cleaning it up and making it the largest indoor parking lot in the world. Make use of the light rail next to it and have a massive public transportation increase.
Jeeze, you guys are forgetting... The Astrodome? it was a 1st on many levels... you cant tear that thing down!!! If they do decide to tear it down, i want some astroturf from inside!
