i don't know about anyone else, but i'm the kind of person that always struggles with thinking of a cool Christmas gift for family/friends..

i know the right gift depends on who it's for and what their interests/hobbies/needs are, but i was wondering what cool gift ideas everyone has out their for this Christmas.. no money limit or anything, but obviously something that is obtainable by the normal dude..

one i was thinking about was a portable GPS system.. i missed out on a sale they had on them for good friday so i could get a tv/xbox360, but i think that's a pretty nice idea for someone that's moving to a new town..

    any other cool ideas?

So I'm planning on getting my wife satellite radio for her car. Does anyone have pros and cons for XM vs Sirius?
    Thanks

i'm getting my mom what she asked for (a cuisinart hand mixer),
my girlfriend some sentimental stuff and some snowboard goggles,
my brother a piece of art for his new house (an oil painting of "the old guitarist" - since he plays guitar),
my other brother a Nebraska Cornhuskers shirt and some other stuff,
and my other brother i'm not quite sure yet.

not sure about my dad yet either.

I always save my crappy ones from the previous years and regift... I don't think I've bought anything new for years now.

I've heard this comparison between the two and I think it fits.

If you buy a CD for all the songs go with XM, but if you buy a CD for just the 2 or 3 songs that are played the most then go with Sirius. Meaning Sirius plays more songs that you have likely heard before, XM goes for more of the ecclectic style. Can't go wrong with either though.

Thanks Wes, that helps a lot. My wife picks out a couple of songs and listens to them over, and over, and over . . . . again.

As crass and useless as it seems to me, my wife says "women always love jewelry". So when in doubt, for a woman, go with jewelry.

It's worked for me for 30 years. And it doesn't have to be expensive. For cheaper gifts go with dicrylic glass, step up to moisnite, or get laid with diamonds.

I’m getting my kids each a video IPOD. I’m also giving them converse shoe coupons. Converse has a site that allows you to design your own Chuck Taylors.

I'll take this for Christmas or any variation thereof:

    Eh, season tickets work too.

I buy my girlfriends clothes usually. Forever 21 is perfect for clothes shopping. I can get really cute shirts for $15 apiece.

For my guy friends its usually 15 bucks to Best buy or something. Birthdays are when I splurge.
