[Efficiency] Christian Church or Denomination with no singing?

I've been thinking of going to church again, but I get bored with the singing. I want the meat of church- the sermon, and then I want to GTFO.

Anyone seen something like this lately?

Why don't you just watch it on tv? And have Picture in Picture with NFL pregame? I've seen that guy Lucas Olsteen or something on tv.

Eh, there's lots of crap in the bible I don't do, like having lots of wives and stoning people.

(changed my original post- it's not that I can or can't stand the singing...I just get bored with it and would rather hear the sermon and be done with it. I get nothing out of singing)

I've been looking for the same thing, all the music does is bore me. It doesn't really inspire me or anything. So far, the only thing I've found close ot that is an unprogrammed Quaker worship, which is total silence.

Isn't it Church of Christ who do not believe in singing and dancing in church?

It seems hard to find a balance between the two. I grew up in a denominational church where I liked the music, but the sermons and everything around it was incredibly boring.

I go to a non-denominational church now and I enjoy the sermons, but the contemporary music just isn't my cup of tea.

They sing in church. They just don't use instruments.

Catholic Mass on Wed or Sat night might not have music.

In my experience, Unitarian churches have the most interesting services. The one I go to sometimes, there are 1-2 short songs out of a hymnal, and the rest of the music is performed (many times it's songs in other languages - really pretty). The sermons are always inclusive, thoughtful, and enlightening. I think they looked at the life and inspiration of Ralph Waldo Emerson (the church's namesake) last time I went. From what I've seen, I really like. I feel at home there.

I agree, sometimes the contemporary worship music at mega churches wears on me. I get uncomfortable when people start ba-la-la-la-lukahhh speaking in tongues and raising their ams and stuff. I feel out of place. Lol, my super religious parents don't like it either. They always go to church 30 minutes late.

I hope you re think the "no singing" thing.

Praise and worship is a great thing spiritually. It really helps open you up to the word latter on. If you just want to get "in and out" then it sounds like you aren't really interested in the idea of church. You could just stay home and watch a sermon on TV.

It's like stretching before working out. It good for you but I guess that's all up to you.
