http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,195070,00.html Did you see the reports last week that "Rush Hour 3" was on track at New Line? The initial stories said that star Chris Tucker had signed on the dotted line for $20 million. But I can tell you that it was more — $25 million, in fact. That may make him and Will Smith the two highest paid actors in the world, with Tucker having a slight advantage. Not bad for a comic with few movie credits. Tucker’s career in fact is limited to just the two prior "Rush Hour" movies over the last decade. Before those movies, he had small parts in "Jackie Brown" and "Money Talks," two 1997 releases. He also appeared in 1997's "The Fifth Element." “Rush Hour 2” is the highest grossing comedy of all time, so Tucker doesn’t have to take any work he doesn’t want to. The total worldwide take for the first two films was $600 million.
He wouldn't get that money for anything other than a Rush Hour sequel. It will most probably be a sure thing as long as they don't screw it up, and the last one made a bunch of money. That sure is a lot of money for a marginal bit actor, though.
I'm not hating, get what you can, but seriously, would anybody pay 25 million to put Chris Tucker in any other movie?
There is no way he gets a huge amount of cash for any other movie. He might get the 8-12 million range for a leading role if he did a new big budget comedy, but not close to what he's raking in for Rush Hour. This is sort of like when Adam Sandler was the highest paid movie star in Hollywood. He basically had been a box office guarantee for a few years, so he was getting 20 million a picture for a while. By the way, I think he's pretty hilarious, so more power to him. But there's lots of pretty hilarious guys out there that aren't making this much.
The Rush Hour franchise is bad ass! I think that as long as the franchise is successful and makes good money than the money is worth it
you would only get paid that much if the organization believes you can make them much more, so this better be some oscar performance.
it aint gotta be Oscar worthy as long as the film makes bookoo bucks. The execs dont really care about awards...awards dont put the green in their pockets.
25 mil? ShEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET scrap that and get another up and comer. 25 mil would almost be a certainty that u bank atleast 150 mil and that is no guarantee nowadays.
everyone knows Jackie cHAN was the real star in the rush hour movies. they could replace tucker with mike epps and it would still be funny if not funnier. i hope they are paying jackie chan more money.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001191/bio according to this, its only confirmed that he did 2 movies in which he made excess of $20 mil internesting note there, he was set to do Collateral in Jamie Foxx role, and went on to do Spanglish instead, and Foxx got the Academy Award Nomination. Honestly, Adam Sandler is a GREAT dramatic actor. He is a better comedian actor no doubt, but he needs to get more props as a dramatic actor just like Jim Carrey. As for the Chris Tucker thing, good for him. He can command that much money because, lets face it, he is THE MOVIE. He is a funny ass man and just wish he did more movies or even tour with his standup. btw, this thread reminded me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oweun4tknKw
If I were a movie executive, I'd pay Tucker $30 million to reprise his role as Ruby Rhod in a Fifth Element spin-off vehicle. Heck, Jackie Chan could fill in as the new Korben Dallas (previously occupied by Bruce Willis). Okay, I'm kidding. Maybe.
Jackie gets his on the back end Trust and Beleive. . . . Jackie is definately getting more Rocket River
