Nice going TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State quarterback Chris Rix must miss the Nokia Sugar Bowl against Georgia because he overslept and failed to take a final exam. Rix was declared ineligible Tuesday, leaving the Seminoles without their top two quarterbacks as they prepare to play the Southeastern Conference champion Bulldogs on Jan. 1. Backup Adrian McPherson was kicked off the team last month for his involvement in a check-writing scam. Rix slept through a religion exam, an automatic suspension under a rule established after former Seminoles' star Deion Sanders played in the '89 Sugar Bowl despite not taking any final exams. "It's an academic decision, there's no chance for him to play in the Sugar Bowl,'' coach Bobby Bowden said. Rix apologized to his teammates, coaches and fans. "This is a difficult price to pay. I'm in good academic standing and am on track to graduate on time,'' he said in a statement released by the school. Bowden said sophomore Fabian Walker from Americus, Ga., would start when the Seminoles (9-4) play the Bulldogs (12-1). Matt Henshaw becomes No. 2 and wide receiver Anquan Boldin, a high school quarterback, would be third string. Walker played in three games, completing 5 of 8 passes for 74 yards. Rix has had a tough year. Last season, he set an Atlantic Coast Conference record for freshmen in total offense, but lost his job after seven games this season. After McPherson was dismissed, Rix led Florida State to a 31-14 win over Florida on Nov. 30. McPherson was dismissed Nov. 25 and was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges the next week. "We're getting accustomed to this,'' cornerback Stanford Samuels said. "The last time this made us stronger. We'll just have to respond again.'' Florida State President Sandy D'Alemberte was in London and did not know about the suspension, school officials said. Has that got to suck or what? I think he should play. The Sugar Bowl is going to be when School is out. He is a FOOTBALL player at FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. The school canceled class for the upcoming game against Miami. Atleast be consistent.
Sunday Night, at about 1:30 AM. I was listening to ESPN radio, and they were talking about video games and stuff. They mentioned a longhorn player. I forgot his name, but once I remember it, I'll say it, but he doesn't use Chris Simms, he uses Vincent Young and runs alot of Options. I thought that was so hilarious. Chris Simms sucks. I am glad he is out the door.
Yeah, who wants the top rated quarterback in the toughest conference in America and a back to back 10 game winner. He sucks!!!
He never beat Oklahoma, or a top 10 team. I'd give him a little bit more love, or, actually I still wouldn't give him love. But, i'd be a little more easy on him.
Kansas State is ranked 6th in the country, and UT beat them in Manhattan. And as for not beating Oklahoma, Chris Weinke was a Heisman winner who won a national championship and led his team to three national championship games. He was shut out by Oklahoma. I guess that means the rest of his career was a fraud?
Charlie Ward was a Heismen Trophy winner, and what did he do? I don't see him leading any NFL team or anything. K-State doesn't count for anything. (actually, i forgot about that win.) I still think Chris Simms just didn't show up at times. I wish he went to the other UT.

Yes, you should've never said that in the first place. Coming in down 28-0 isn't exactly a fair place to play. If a difference of one game is the difference between a fluke and sucking, your standards are way, way different from mine.
If a difference of one game is the difference between a fluke and sucking, your standards are way, way different from mine. Putting words in my mouth now, huh? I was just pointing out that Simms has played OU more times than Weinke did. So I guess that's "Chris Simms sucks" in your language?
Most people don't "point out" something unless it supports their viewpoint. At least that's been my experience. Oh, and Kam, what Charlie Ward didn't do in the NFL doesn't have a lot of relevance since he never tried to be in the NFL.
depends on your definition of tried. Ward said if he wasn't a first round draft pick he wouldn't even bother with the NFL. he wanted to play... but on his own, unreasonable terms.
Jim rome brought up an interesting discussion. He defended the guy on the basis that each of us have this very nightmare for the better parts of our live. We all dream this exact scenario several time a year. No matter how old we are. And He's right. It's a real social issue. So it's not hard to conceive that this could happen to any one of us. Even 15 years removed from school we have dreams about missing classes, missing exams, and running naked thru the halls. I though it was very insightful that he brought up the whole dream thing. There's something inside each of us that can relate to this situation on a sunconscious level, let alone a conscious one.
Um... excuse me... Mr. Cat, sir... Sorry to be a pain and intrude, but I think... um... well... Kliff Kingsbury was the top-rated QB in the Big XII. KK was 1st in the nation in attempts (Simms = 35th), completions (Simms = 31st), yards (Simms = 25th), and TDs (Simms = 15th), 5th in completion % (Simms = 22nd), and 17th in QB rating (.02 behind Simms, who was 16th). Not that Chris Simms was bad or anything. Far from it. He just wasn't the best in his conference like you stated. Now, I'm not trying to incite an argument here. I'm only correcting a wrong statement with pertinent facts. Ok, I'll leave now. Sorry. We now return you to your normally scheduled thread mercilessly hijacked by yet another Chris Simms debate... Oh, and for the record, Rix is sux0r.
If he specifically meant QB rating, I apologize. I understand "top rated" to be the consensus best QB. Besides, the two of them are only separated by .2 in QB rating (I made a mistake earlier by saying it was .02). That's basically a tie, and if you factor in the other rankings, Kingsbury would get the nod. However, Cat is essentially right, so no smartass correction was needed by me.
