Who is the better player? Williams is 7-2 against Paul but is that a strong indicator that he's better? or is it irrelevant?
Williams is a better 3 point shooter but thats about it. CP3 is better in every other way. This is coming from somebody who hates Chris Paul.
I can't stand Chris Paul, but he's better. were not talking leaps and bounds better, but he's better.
I just don't know. If we did a poll, Paul probably wins. But I don't think many people realize just how good Deron is in the post, especially against the opposing point guard. He doesn't get to do it often because, well, its usually the point guard feeding the man in the post, not the other way around. I want to slap him because of his team, but you have to respect his game.
Let's leave aside the box score stats for a moment, which are overwhelmingly in Paul's favor. Chris Paul's On/Off rating is +25.5 per 100 possessions. His adjusted +/- rating, according to basketballvalue.com, is +15.9. Deron Williams has a +0.1 On/Off and a +1.5 adjusted +/-. So that's two different measures based on how well the team plays with the player on the court, forgetting the individual stats, that are very much in Paul's favor. Couple that with Paul's clear superiority in individual numbers (30 PER vs 18.5 PER), and this is basically no contest.
We all know Morey is an outside the boxscore statistical fanatic. Maybe you should be working for him...don't you wish
I think Paul is better but are those statistics just from this season or for their careers? Williams was injured for a large part of this season and I'm sure it took him a while to get his legs back under him. If those stats are just for this season, how do those same stats look from last season? I imagine Paul was still ahead but the discrepancy is probably much less.
Deron can be a 25 ppg scorer if he wants to because he is a very good shooter and has great size for a PG. CP3 is the better passer, defender, and leader. Right now I'd take Paul over Williams.
Chris Paul is better. Not only is he better he does it with a weaker supporting cast. The Jazz went something like 10-5 without Deron this year. That's a playoff paced team. Paul is one of 3-4 players in the league who's teams honestly might never win a game without them. Compound this with Paul's overwhelming statistical advantage and this argument is done, IMO.
Even though I dislike him strongly, I have to admit Chris Paul is better. Deron Williams is the only thing about the Jazz I like.
