I'd still like to know what being white, black, brown, etc. has to do with ability, desire, intelligence or anything else related to basketball.
Is it really racist to state that African-Americans, on average, are more athletic than Anglo or Asian Americans?
White or black, every 7 foot guy in life sucks at everything except basketball and most even that.None of them do a damn thing.When was the last time you've heard of a 7 foot anyone changing the world.If it wasn't for James Naismith, they'd be freaks at a side show all their lives.
Boy, do I ever regret that post! When I saw not one but two (!) white NBA players as comparisons, I thought I spotted another of the age-old disease of comparing white players to other white players. It turns out that maybe, maybe, maybe posters were actually comparing their games. For that (if it is so), I commend yall. As for it being racist to say that blacks are more athletic than whites: I'd say yes, unless you can bring some evidence to support it (anecdotal evidence will not do).
Only if it is true...but that doesn't mean they are inherinetly dumber or more violent. All it means is that they don't have opportunities that richer americians do.
I don't believe that African Americans are more athletic than any other ethnic group....that is bogus. Under that theory, Larry Bird, John Stockton, Rudy T, and others should never have played the game. Great Athletes are dedicated to their training. If you recall, the Eastern European countries dominated the Olympics in years past. Are the Austrians and Swiss the only ones who know how to ski or did they just have more opportunity to practice?

I think that a lot of you may be carrying this too far. I think that there can be a difference between a statement that is racist and one that presents a stereotype. I've seen Comicview and they make fun of white people all the time(can't dance, dress, etc,) and I don't think the statements are racist. They are simply racially-based stereotypes, and often quite funny. People shouldn't be so sensitive about everything.
OK, then why are the big 3 pro sports predominantly African-American? I have an opportunity to play basketball as much as a black guy. Whites do as well. Why is the nba predominantly black? I don't think they have more of an opportunity to play basketball, they are simply more athletic and skilled. It's a fact of life, it's not a crime.
