i know the Clippers have been sucking it up this season, but has anyone noticed Kaman's stats? they're freaking Yao-like. minus the scoring, of course. 16.2 ppg at 48.0% fg, 13.3 rpg, 3.0 bpg, 1.9 apg. only goes to the line 4.9 times per game, but makes a respectable 74.4% of his free throws. has a Yao-like 3.2 turnovers per game. unfortunately, he's been having T-Mac like back problems recently and might have to sit out indefinitely. combine that with Elton Brand's absence this season, and the Clippers look like they'll get yet another high lottery pick next season. they should trade for a PG as Cassell doesn't really have much left, and who knows what's up with Shaun Livingston? but they are a loaded team that perplexes me how they consistently underachieve each and every season. interestingly, there are only 5 pure centers that play > 35 mpg in Yao, Dwight Howard, Kaman, Brad Miller and Camby. Bosh, Boozer, Gasol and Al Jefferson are the only 4 forward-centers that play > 35 mpg. which makes me wonder if Yao really needs to play so many minutes. Duncan hasn't played over 34 mpg in four years, and he's the only frontcourt presence the Spurs have. Shaq hasn't played over 30 mpg since his first season in Miami, and yet the Suns were willing to give up the freaking Matrix for him.
Mo Taylor put up some crazy stats on weak Clipper teams... But yes Kaman has improved. He will be playing for Germany in the Olympics in hopes of further expanding his game.
Kaman is german? That`s the first I heard of it and I`m german... would be really cool though, we could use someone like him on our team!
No he is not German. He applied for citizenship or whatever just to play in the Summer. Dirk is supposedly very excited about having him on the team. Dirk actually talked Kaman into joining during the annual caveman all-star game in Milwaukee.
Yeah, Kaman's good. But right now he's got no teammates and has the liberty of taking all the shots without the wins. And he's got no competition for those rebounds with Brand gone. Still, he's a very good center who's who's shown promise since two years ago. He also seems like a very proud guy on his Clipper specials and interviews, he's not just fishing for a paycheck. Once he started learning how to handle double teams he really blossomed. When he starts taking smarter shots his team will win.
^^ Agreed. He was crap last year and just playing better because there are less player to take the rebounds away from him (Brand). and less players to score (Brand).
