After watching Franchise the last two and a half years I am convinced that he may be the most talented athlete in the NBA pound for pound. Who could imagine a 6’3” player that can dominate on the boards like Steve. He has a great outside shot, drives to the basket with the best and has the best hops in the NBA today. Steve Francis is a franchise type of player. However I am starting to believe that he will never be great at running the offense. He is at his best when he is taking it upon himself to be the primary scoring option. As someone that has to sit up his teammates he just doesn’t appear to have good instincts and tends to be indecisive which leads to bad decisions. I believe Steve would be the perfect two guard but not a great point guard.

What we need is PG that has great court savvy, can knock down the open J with consistency and plays defense like the glove. Chris Duhon is that player. The guy is the epitome of a team player and does an amazing job at sitting his teammates up and getting the ball to them in scoring position. Chris is a demon on defense and has as good court savvy as anyone that has come out of the draft in years. On top of all of that he has a better outside jumper than his teammate Jason Williams and is a great passer. Chris may also be one of the toughest players I have ever seen. Does anyone remember the NCAA finals last year when he went up for a long rebound and hit the floor hard with his head? I thought his career was over but instead he went to the locker room for a few minutes and then came back into the game.

IMO Chris Duhon and Steve Francis would make a great backcourt. Bring Mobley off the bench for instant offense and a tempo changer as a super-sub and we have the best backcourt trio in the league with out even talking about Moochie. Imagine Chris throwing lobs to Steve Francis and Eddie Griffin for the next ten years! Man that’s scary.

    1. Would Steve Francis be willing to move to the two spot? He already logs a lot of minutes as a two when Mooche comes into the game with him.
    2. Would Cat be willing to go back to the bench?

Chris Duhon is exactly the type of impact role player that we need running this team.

I say we get Antonio McDyess and keep Francis at the point.

You missed the point. Besides how do we get McDyess he belongs to Denver and they are not about to trade him to us. I don't think Steve is a point guard...its just that simple. We could get Duhon to pair with Steve in this years draft.

How about T.J. Ford? although UT guards do tend to suck in the pros.

TJ Ford is great but I don't think he is in Duhons class. Isn't Ford a sophmore?

TJ Ford is better than Duhon but he is a true freshman..TJ Ford is like Alan Iverson that passes better but doesn't shoot as good. He will probably go to UT at least two more years.

You can take Ford but I prefer Duhan. Not as quick and not with the hops but a better pure pg and a much better defender.

    Crash,

    BETTER PURE PG???????

On the offensive end, no college player gets his teammates involved as well as TJ that I've seen. TJ is the pure Point guard. Duhon is a more rounded player with better shooting and defense. Duhon is currently a better player than TJ.

His only simularities to Iverson or he's small, quick, athletic, black, position is guard, and they're both good at what they do.

he is not in Duhon's class?.. what makes you say that?.. TJ ford was the best PG in the nation comming out of highschool last year. He also showed his ability in McD. game also. He could have gone to any college he wants but he chose UT (odd +_+)..
Ive played couple pick up games with him and his brother back in highschool days (he was in jr. high).. oh man.. he was too good... highschool varsity players couldnt even stop him then.

TJ ford's game is very mature.. he knows how to get people invovled.. and he rarely turns over the ball

and don't forget that UT is not a good shooting team... nor they have no offensive players.

Is that sarcasm? UT is a good shooting team and has an array of skilled offensive players, but a lack of creators on offense. This makes me think its sarcasm, but what would the point be.

As talented as UT is offensively, Duke is vastly superior in this regard.

I think it is an intriguing idea regarding moving Steve to shooting guard. The only hitch I see is didn't Steve want out of Vancover in part because they had Bibby at point, and he did not want to play the two?

My main problem with this plan is that Chris Duhon sucks. If he didn't have the great players around him nobody would even know his name.

That's one of the funniest things I've read here in a while. Thanks for the laugh.

Duhon has better size, better defense, and a better jump shot than Ford.

I will say that I am a huge TJ Ford fan, but he has his limitations when it comes to NBA talent.

Ford will never be in the NBA if his jump shot doesn't improve dramatically.

Ford is a 5 ft 10 Jason Kidd, without the rebounding and defense.

So I guess Chris Duhon was a no-name PG who is walking-on at Duke?

Duhon was rated slightly higher his Sr. year than Ford, and for good reason.

I have watched Duke plenty. I reiterate, Duhan sucks. I don't think ya'll realize most totally bad ass college gaurds don't make it, and Duhan ain't even one of them. All he has to do is play defense and stand there waiting for JW, Boozer or Dunleavy to get him the ball and he doesn't even do that very well.
