I think so... He's been in the league for 10+ years and has a career of 3.6 PPG. His free-throw is also hideous, worst than Shaq's at .412. He's 6-11 and has a career block of 1.16. Just look at the rest of his stats...its just pitifull. I used to just laugh at him when he played with the Knicks in the playoff where he would loses the ball everytime he touches it. I think he might have retired since I've never heard of him anymore. dudley the man
He's easy to make fun of, but the guy averaged 9 rebounds per game in roughly 23 minutes in a few seasons w/ NJ and POR. He also had 2.5 blks/gm a couple of seansons. If he were the worst player ever, he would not have played 18 seasons.
He was legit on D. As was said, you don't have full careers by being terrible. McIllvaine was a crappy version of Dudley. Evan
he isnt the worst r****d, 7 points 8 rebounds a game in 90-91 season is good, exactly how that fool said earlier, i dont care if im the worst player in the nba as long as im in the nba.
I seem to remember that Scott Hastings was picked as the worst player of all time once... He had the dubious honor of most "trillions" (zeros across 12 box-score categories--i.e. completely wasted court time), I believe.
If you are the worst player in the NBA, you don't last until the end of your first week. Your bubble bursts and another player's bubble rises. Dudley lasted more than FOUR times the career length of the average NBA player. Granted, he could compete in the worst free throw competition, but he wouldn't come in first there either.
Exactly. What kind of criteria are some of you guys using, anyway? Ostertag the worst? Now lets think about this for a hot minute......the WORST? No. The guy has had a freaking CAREER. That's more than the vast majority of players who have tried their hand at NBA ball can say. Dudley? Ditto. As a matter of fact, the two players mentioned have started for their respective teams. Let me bring some of you back to sweet reality. Just off the top of my head without scouring websites for obscure players' names: Granville Waiters Yinka Dare Conner Henry John Turner Bo Kimble (remember people, we're talkin' NBA) Lance Blanks Andrew Moten Jack Haley Keith Smart Steve Harris I could keep going, but this would devolve into fringe players who didn't even make it out of camp or past a 10 day contract. The point is the 'worst' player is somebody that we're not even going to be thinking about in the forefront of our minds. Why? Because he was so bad he wasn't around long enough to make any sort of tangible impression.
This is the first guy that came to my mind too. There wasn't one thing he was good at and he possesed not one single skill. IN fact, If I remember, Hastings rep was that of a thug.
yes he was. dudley, by far, isn't the worst player in the history of the nba. hard-nosed player. became one of those crafty veteran guys. wasn't afraid to give a hard foul and seemed to do what he was told (which is rare these days).
