WTF. If the Nets don't want him.....well sure! We'll take him. But he's probably still out of shape and unhealthy. :(

I say take a chance with childs. We wouldn't have to pay him that much.

I'd rather play Moochie. Only thing Childs is good for is stealin' Kobe in the jaw.

Nets and Childs Agree to Part With a Buyout
    By LIZ ROBBINS

AN ANTONIO, March 6 ¡X The Nets negotiated a buyout of Chris Childs's two-year contract today. Pending approval from the National Basketball Association on Friday, the team will waive him, ending an eight-month relationship.

"It was disappointing to both sides that this didn't work as much as we thought it would," Lon Babby, the agent for Childs, said today. "There is no acrimony. Everyone is in a place now that we thought was fair."

Babby and Rod Thorn, the Nets' president, described it as a mutual business decision and did not say it was precipitated by one event.

"It looked very good on paper, but it did not work out very well for different reasons," said Thorn, who signed Childs to a two-year, $3.5 million contract last August.

Thorn indicated that the Nets might not sign another free agent to replace Childs and could activate the second-year guard Brandon Armstrong.

Though it is too late for Childs, 35, to latch on with a playoff-bound team, Babby said he expected Childs to resume his career next season. Childs, a ninth-year guard, played in only 22 games this season, averaging 8.8 minutes.

A person familiar with the situation said that from the time the Nets suspended Childs in the preseason for being overweight (and sent him to a weight-loss clinic), his conditioning was an issue. Childs also skipped a community-relations event Friday, the person said.

Under the agreement, terms of the buyout were not released. Childs was due to make $1.75 million in each year and had forfeited more than $90,000 when he was suspended.

He's not eligible for playoff as he's waived after 1 march.

Well it looks like we won't be seeing Childs in thick marker-like pinstripes this year. Which is ok with me, it'd hurt us.
