Who knows, but they're saying no broken bone... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/news/2003/07/25/yao_injury_ap/
He could always throw on one of those "Jason" masks that Will Purdue made so fashionable in the late '90s as a member of the Spurs...
that may be (sarcasm noted), but the chinese media is the last source you wanna trust. it's all owned and controlled by the government. there is NO freedom of press or speech, or much else really. however, the american media is all owned and controlled by a select few conglomerates/corporations, so i really don't know which is worse...
It has more to do with immurity of internet media than freedom of speech. The government is more concerned about riot/tibet than a cut above Yao's left eye.
No matter... whether true or not... it gaves us something to talk about... & we can always choose to believe what we want to believe...
i assume you mean 'immaturity'... and it has MORE to do with freedom of speech/press than immaturity of the internet. many foreign web-sites are blocked or censored from the view of the chinese public. they recently closed down most internet cafes in china. the government monitors all internet traffic and downloads.......these all have to do with freedom of speech, not immaturity. and why do you say they are more concerned about riots and tibet? because people are getting tired of having their freedoms and rights surpressed, that's why! ok, i ain't about to get too politikal here, so i'll back off now.
yeah, ill believe their source over espn, because 1. they are where yao is, 2. they have no reason to lie about it. yes, the chinese newspapers fudge the issues a bit (and for you people still living in the 80's, there are independent papers there now) but some of them are very professional in terms of fact finding for non-political news. and plus, most of the educated people know enough to listen to the news with a grain of salt. i would be more concerned with our press because everyone thinks what is in it is true, even though a lot of the political information is coming from our government, thus why the world is pissed at us being in iraq. so in the end, just because they are able to lie about some things doesnt mean that everything they say is a lie. and just because they sometimes lie, doesnt mean that we are better than them and dont ever lie.
Guys, learn the lesson of the ill-fated thread about A perspective onthe Offseason... It got moved to D&D because it got off-topic and political... If you want to discuss Western media vs Chinese media...start a thread in D&D.
Good job Rockets2K! By the way, are you thinking about taking over Dr of Dunk's position as a moderator after his retirement...
If I was Kobe's juror, I was to believe the so called victim is an unstable, suicidal, bragging-about-the-rape little lunatic with the case filed in a racially hostile region. I was to decide Kobe's innocent before the trial based on every truthful account in the US media.
heech,,,you know I luv ya...and respect your opinion....but come on. This is such a minor little sports injury report,,,and they flat out lied. for what reason???
HAH! not likely...I am a meer peon in comparison to the awesome mods at this board.. seriously..Even if I had the spare time to do it and was asked...I couldnt keep my cool with all the idiots..I'd go on a locking and banning spree that would shock and awe even the most experienced usenet ( where flame wars and off topic postings are the norm) geek...
AP was the press that initially reported the bone fracture, I wonder who was their source. Chinese media? Xinghua News Agency is said to have reported the bone fracture along with AP but I've not seen any copy of Xinghua's report on such injury yet. I tried to trace the origin of the bone fracture story without much success. The key is, who was the original reporter that called or reported about the mysterious Dr.Du? If this question isn't answered, blaming the Chinese media may turn out to be barking up the wrong tree.
GRAYsquirrel, which era are you living in? BTW, "they recently closed down most internet cafes in china". You got that right. And they recently closed down the cinemas too. Why? BECAUSE OF THE SARS VIRUS! That's why! Rule of thumb: CLOSE DOWN ALL CROWDED PLACES WHEN A DEADLY VIRUS IN SPREADING THROUGH THE AIR. Damn, people can really comment on things they don't understand.
