    Chinese Media sina.com dig cluthcity.net

In today's sina.com, someone translated clutch's article <a href="http://www.clutchcity.net/news.cfm?NewsID=1043">"Griffin, Morris Agree Yao Will Have Big Impact"</a> and put it at the front page of sina.com. This article is exactly the same of clutch's report. They didn't chang any word of this article, including the title, but just the author's name "Shi Cheng".

So some Chinese journalists do dig at this website. This "Shi Cheng" translated many articles from other American media. This is the first time I saw he/she did this from here.

Yes. He/she at least changed one word. At the begining of cluthch's article:"At the Summer Pro League, Eddie Griffin and Terence Morris tell ClutchCity.net that......". In sina.com srticle:"At the Summer Pro League, Eddie Griffin and Terence Morris tell REPORTER that......."

It's so bad that they didn't mention the name of clutch or this website.

Although it would have been pretty cool if they mentioned us, we've got enough popularity anyways. Probably wouldn't be too good for the bbs.

    windandsea,

Saying the "dig" clutchcity.net is weird, since they didn't mention the site at all. I cannot believe they just steal articles like that.

They seem to just make stuff up and rehash anything without checking it, too. One leading paper ran a story from TheOnion saying that Congress was Threating to Leave DC if they didn't get a new Capital building.

Your journalism seems pretty shabby over there.

What the heck is Allan Houston doing on this web site? Have the Knicks finally realized how stupid they were to sign him to a $100 million deal and have finally shipped him off to China?

They are still printing "ming's low salary due to reduced NBA salary cap" crap all over the place. I wish they have read your post about CAP and rookie scale more carefully. :)

No, it's not cool at all. They've taken Clutch's writing and claimed it as their own. I suppose imitation is the best compliment, but it is illegal, unethical, and just uncool. Clutch, sue those bastards!

Clutch you should sue. That isn't right. They just stole the article without giving you any credit at all. That is wrong .

I am sure the "author" Shi Cheng often comes here. I will tell you Shi Cheng that your behaviour is totally wrong. You translated many articles from American press and you seldom gave the original source. Some Chinese fans complained that "Chinese press" overrated Ming or underrated Ming during the draft. But I know those reports about Ming were all from American media. You should inspect your behaviour.

I actually thought about translating HP's post into Chinese and posting it somewhere, but it was way too long. I asked some friends of mine for an automatic translation software but couldn't get a good one. I hope sometime in the future I can translate some posts here and make some money out of it (in RMB). I promise the original author will get at least a half of the pay if there is any. :)

    HA HA !!!

Welcome to my world....China and Asia have been stealing my work for YEARS....

They do not observe our copyright laws, which is why any contract we sign with them is basically invalid.

JuanValdez is right. It IS unethical, illegal, and uncool. Tons of this stuff goes on in China, and if they want respect, they should respect Clutch. The World is watching.

yes, we need to get that guy to explain himself on this site or maybe make up for it with some kind gesture. Maybe he can do some stuff for this site concerning more detailed Ming updates, etc.

    No,

China & all the rest of Asia.

They steal the games we make and sell them on the black market and we do not get a penny for it.

Disgusts me.......maybe I should get Yao Ming to give me a percentage of his salary too.

    :)

I will compare "Shi Cheng"'s article with Clutch's report.

    Shi Cheng:

title: Griffin, Morris praise Ming and say he will impact the Rockets (I translate IT word by word. the same meaning of Clutch's title.)

Beijing, July 22nd - (Funny. If he/she says From Houston or American associate press, I will feel more comfortable) Eddie Griffin and Terence Morris, who are attending the Summer Pro League, tell reporter that they and the team hope Yao Ming can come to Houston immediately and join the Rockets. (Almost the same. a little exaggerated. )

Both were thrilled about the potential of Yao Ming on the Rockets.
Eddie felt that defensively, Ming's presence would be felt right away. (the same)

"I think he's going to have a big impact because he's going to take up a lot of space down there," said Griffin. "Guys are going to know that he's 7-6 and are going to be a little hesitant to go in there because they know how long he is." (the same)

Morris said despite the fact he and the guys haven't seen him yet, his presence will be a factor this season. He will change the Rockets totally. (Clutch didn't write the last sentence.)

Terence said "We got an inside guy, a presence, who can score as well as provide defense and block shots. We feel good about him coming to our team. We haven't seen him yet. We probably won't see him until some time in October, but it's good to have him on our team." (He/she cut clutch's words of Terence scoring 13 points at the SL).

"I think he's going to make a big impact for us," reiterated Griffin. (the same)

How can these two players tell such things to the reporter at Beijing?

I am shocked that China would tolerate this blatant theft and copyright infringement.

    Sincerely,
