Is it just me or does anyone else want to see the chinese fans reaction when yao is picked first. See how many are watching will they be in the streets cheering etc. I was just wondering god i want the draft to hurry up.

Basically I don't know what to expect from the chinese fans.

When Kwane Brown was selected #1 last year, not a lot of HIgh School Kids ran out in the streets and cheered over his #1 selection.

Maybe its different since its a national icon for over 10 billion chinese people.

I hope to see some damn good chinese riots if he's not selected #1

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high... there won't be people in the streets.

For one thing, this'll be happening in China at 8 AM. And more importantly, as popular as Yao Ming is with those who follow basketball in China (a few hundred million people :p), for the vast majority of the population he's still relatively unknown.

My grandmother and aunt didn't even recognize his name; significant, since they've sat in front of the TV 5 hours a day for the past month watching the World Cup.

My guess is that excitement will probably be limited to online forums. Wait until Yao Ming wins his first MVP and NBA championship with the Rockets for the public rowdiness to appear.

10 billion? Where are they hiding them all? ;)

Uh... this is China we're talking about, not L.A. or Chicago. They won't riot for any reason. The riot police there are murder.
