It looks like I am off to Beijing in two weeks. I will be only there during week and will be working during the day, so I only have tim to get out in the evening. So what should I do and go see, and most importantly, where should I go eat. Recommendations are greatly appreciated and I prefer to see the local scene versus the touristy stuff.

Sanlitun lu is the main bar district.

The Great Wall and the Forbidden City should be no brainers. Also the Capital Museum is a great place to visit if you are a fan of culture and historical stuffs. Beijing Art Museum is pretty famous too, but it was kind of boring to me.

I don't even know where to start with the food. The food culture in China is simply astounding. You will know what I'm talking about once you get there. The choice is virtually endless. Off the top of my head, the world famous Peking Duck is a must-try. The best place to get a taste is "Quan Ju De". "Huo Guo" (the hot pot) is very interesting as well.

"Hou Hai" is probably the best night spot in Beijing if your are into the bar scenes.
