That is so sad. Dogs are such great animals.

 

the whole michael vick story didnt bother me at all because im not an animal lover like the people who were whining about him.

but this really bothers me, especially the picture of the skinned cats. i dont care even if they were killed humanely, whats the point of eating a cat? it barely has any meat on it and i doubt it even tastes good.

 

I have no problems with people eating cats but to store the dogs in those conditions is just wack.

 

During world cup 2002, that when i first heard of cats as entry meals. all the spanish commentators would make mention of it.

 

That's just awful...

 

Where's the outrage over veal, snake, or foie gras?

Why point at China? No dogs have been beaten and tortured in the US? When the whole Michael Vick thing was going on I doubt anyone made a thread titled "USA: Dogs are beaten, tortured and forced to kill each other".

Being born in China and living there during my childhood, I can guarantee you that the majority of people don't eat dog or cat. I've heard of dogs being eaten, but never cat until now. Don't generalize.

 

we do the same **** in america, but because it's done inside factories and with 'acceptable' animals, its deemed appropriate..

most have no problem driving up and asking for the 7 piece dark meat special, but when it's cats and dogs... "ooooooooooo how cruel"

 

I understand people being emotionally outraged about the idea of eating cats and dogs because in America because we're used to having them as pets, but they're still just animals and all animals can be livestock for people.

As for the claim that they actively strive to torture the animals, I've never heard of that before, but if they do then that that's worthy of condemnation. However, I don't think you can argue that beating the animal to death with a club is necessarily an effort to torture, considering they don't seem to have enough resources to build a slaughterhouse.

 

I don't think I'll ever eat cats and dogs, but anybody that has ever had Veal shouldn't judge. Also, it's not like the meat you pick up at the supermarket is that bloodless....... I personally know a lot of people that became vegetarian after watching this. I think my personal stand is we as human beings can probably treat our livestock better, though no nation/culture has a right to dictate another what animal is considered edible and what is not. Though better animal treatments might increase the cost of meat.....

8-10 million cats are abandoned in the US and 3-4 million are destroyed in shelters.


Now that is A LOT of wasted food!

Some people compare DOGS, CATS, to cows, pigs, turkey, etc.

I believe the reason it's not as "inhumane" is that there are WAY MORE dogs and cats as pets than there are the other animals we eat. I am not defending anything. Torturing or beating up animals to just make food is plain wrong, no matter what animal it is.

 

QUESTION: The fact that we love and care for Dogs and Cats . . . do you think this may have something to do with their overpopulation?

In the wild, these animals would be weeded out by natural predators, starvation and disease. Because humanity has deemed them worthy of out protect, it may have upset the balance. This makes for these animals having longer lifespans, better health and generally well cared for.

Could this be upsetting the balance of nature . . . . maybe not as much as care emmissions but something to consider.

Not excusing this [i refuse to click the link . . i detest wanton animal cruelty but know it is a part of life]

This kind of torture is just wrong. I am absolutely against any kind of torture of any animal.

That said, the presentation of the website also disgusted me. It made it seem as if torturing animals was common in China and was written completely as a polemic. Also, even in the comments the guy said 'THIS is NOT the forum for YOU to promote your views.'.

Hey, I'm sorry if our culture is different from yours, let's make it so that everybody's culture is the same.

Sorry, bit of a venting there, couldn't help it. but tortuing animals is BAD.
