i posted earlier in the Asking a Girl Out thread, but didn't get any replies b/c everyone was waiting on Preston with the update. i had a question on the same topic:

i invited a girl i like to start running with me in Hermann park this week (i'm training for the Houston half-marathon). along the lines of coffee places and Smoothie King-type places, what does that area have to offer? i'm thinking along the lines of some place to go chill/meet at, pre-running.

    thanks in advance.

Head to Rice Village. Large number of options there. There's very little else in that general area (Museum/Med Center/Rice)

Thanks, Evan. I was getting kinda anxious, watching the middle schooler get answers to his algebra question and the cult following plead for update from Preston, wondering why I couldn't get a reply.

The only two places nearby are the village and I guess technically the medical center has coffee shops and what not (and would probably be easier to get to since you just have to follow the light rail) but I'm not sure a bustling area filled with busy doctors would be the best place to mix it up with the ladies.

The village on the other hand is great, just a little farther away.

It's a coffee/wine/cafe type place. Very chill place to take a girl. Great atmosphere, great coffee, great wine (sounds like you might skip that, pre-run & all ;)).

    Salento is good.

The outdoor area at La Madeline in the Village is nice.

There is also an outdoor area at the Starbucks on Kirby.

This thread is useless without pics...

This thread is not Preston like, but I'm assuming she said yes and would be offended if asked her out...Meaning, are you in the friend zone?

Why not Memorial? There's a Smoothie King there for sure.

There's a Smoothie King (or smoothie something) in Rice Villiage as well on Univeristy.

Another place in the Villiage is Crossroads. They got good coffee there too plus they have crepes and other foods. Chics dig it. It is also on University next to Half Price Books.

During the day, there are more laptops in Salento than customers. ;) It's a nice place but the nerd atmosphere definately cuts down on the cool factor for bringing dates.
