This afternoon instead of studying for my business policy final which I have tomorrow, I was goofing around on the computer and came across this site: I think it is very interesting that a Sesame Street segment made this guy's #1 (it did after an update). I remember so many weird things on Sesame Street that may not have scared me but I found them weird to say the least. Probably the best case of this was a segment on the letter H that looked like a film negative and had all these weird lights flashing and Maria's voice talking over it. Maybe this was an attempt at being psychedelic but to a 4 year old kid, it gave me the chills, LOL. I actually vaguely remember the sketch this guy mentions for the Sesame Street one - but letter H was still weirder, dammit! Anyway, have fun with reliving some childhood nightmares (that Return to Oz one especially - what the hell was Disney thinking when they said that was a children's movie?).
there was a movie called Magic with a creepy puppet. i only saw the ads as a kid...but it freaked me out. i'm noticing freaky ass horror movie ads on during the day...like during the Rockets/Mavs game on Saturday...when my 5 year old is watching with me. i'm thinking he can do without the House of Wax visuals!! "PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!" yeah...thanks. jackasses.
There was this movie that they showed after cartoons one Saturday when I was a kid, titled something like Red Room. About a house where a kid is burned to death or something similar, I just remember being spooked out for weeks.
Oh, in my room I had one of those wind-up monkeys with the banging symbols, I was convinced he was going to come after me. Just a demonic looking toy.
The Dr Who theme did kinda freak me out as a kid. The wicked witch though was pure evil. Most of the rest, I was older.
I remember that - I thought that was pretty cool. Things that terrified me as a kid: 1) Gremlins - The idea of small malevolent creatures that could use the AC vents to travel through the house scared me crapless. Especially since I had an AC vent right above my head. 2) Piranha - This movie seems pretty funny now (John Sayles wrote it so it's full of subtle jokes), but I did not like swimming in muddy water for years after seeing this (ironically, it was filmed at Aquarena Springs, where the water couldn't be any clearer). I know alot of kids (my sister included) absolutely hated clowns after the scene in Poltergeist. It didn't bother me very much, probably because I was too fascinated by the scene where the dude pulls his face off.
Whatta bunch of p*****s! I can't remember being scared of anything, but my mom said that I was terrified of Darth Vader when I was three...of course, what three year old WOULDN'T be scared of Darth Vader. She also said I was pretty freaked out about Jack of Jack in the Box getting blown up...
My two huge childhood frights were from movies..... "Jaws" and the "Dark Shadows" movie..... Sharks and vampires, vampires and sharks....
I remember a few things that scared me as a child. The "Thriller" video was one of them, I remember I would always leave the room whenever it came on. Bozo, not clowns just Bozo. I remember my family members would always get me to do stuff by saying "if you don't I am going to tell Bozo on you." Storms, seeing the destruction of tornadoes and hurricanes on tv, whenever it thundered, rained, lighting I always got shook up. The movie "Clue" freaked me out too. Something about people getting killed in a big house and nobody knows who did it or who to trust just doesn't suit me well.
Holy crap! I was about to post the exact same sentence when I first saw this thread title! That video gave me nightmares!
anyone remember the Friday the 13th spoof, "Saturday the 14th"? the monster from that scared me very badly also .....Michael Myers scared me
Saturday the 14th was a funny movie. I wonder if it's on DVD. This was back in the Richard Benjamin days.
