We've taken our SOs to countless Sci Fi/Comic movies this year. We forced them to sit through Predator and Solo. This weekend let's take them to something with no special efx. This year's La La Land and guaranteed to get you some nookie. It's getting great reviews and awards consideration.

fyi, this is like the fourth iteration of this story. So like your grandpa took your grandma to see it and got some. Your dad took your mom and got some. Now you can build on that legacy.

The original, or at least the earliest one that I know of:

    James Mason and Judy Garland

lady gaga was on colbert last night...undeniable talent and its hard to take your eyes off her, but man she is annoying as hell. really over-dramatic theatre-kid who takes herself and her "art" way too seriously. colbert barely got a word in...she just rambled on and on and on about herself (or bradley cooper).

Woah. Dorothy Parker has a writers credit on the film. Didn't know she wrote movies. That is some serious 1930's hipster Alogonquin Round Table street cred right there.

Also, in 1937 color was expensive as hell and in extremely short supply. That means at the time, the studio viewed it as s blockbuster prestige type film.

    Interesting.

I love the 76 version and I usually cringe at remakes but this looks pretty good.

Definitely should be in consideration. The film I thought was pretty incredible, and Cooper and Lady Gaga were completely immersed in their roles.
