I don't know about you guys but I've been extremely happy about Deke. He is defending the paint very well and seems to be the only person that can rebound. I think he serves as a backup center very well. Just work on that nasty hook shot Deke.

Deke is playing very well...but after 10 years in the league, I doubt he is suddenly going to become of offensive threat. :)

Good thread. And yeah, just be happy he hasn't demanded the ball even more like he has in past years ;)

Mutumbo used to be a decent offensive player. He never had a jumpshot beyond 3 ft. But he was a good offensive rebounder and semi-decent in the post. The problem, a lot of times, is that he thinks he's better offensively than he really is. That's why he would ask for the ball in the post even if it's not a high percentage shot.

I love it when Deke waves his finger after a block.:)

He's been great off the bench.

    I love Deke.

He has the most predictable shot in the world. You can see it coming 5 seconds before, everytime.

A key factor for Deke is that he gets respect. If a guy comes and jumps into him, initiating the contact, he's not going to get the call. I really don't understand why so many guys are just intent on taking the ball right at him, when they aren't going to draw a foul, and will get absolutely stuffed, sometimes multiple times on the same possession.

Deke's rebounding and shotblocking prowess makes him the polar opposite of Yao. Last year we had Mo and Cato at the 4, who were opposites, now we have a new set.

Actually, I think Deke's blocking has lit a fire under Yao. I remember that game when Deke picked up 6 blocks in a hurry, so Yao picked up about 4 just to try to compete. I like that. A little friendly competition can be a good motivator. And when they're both swatting 'em, our opps settle for outside jumpers, and then we're REALLY in business.

The league has been allowing him to waive it towards the basket support...if he shows any indication of waiving it towards a player in any taunting-like fashion, they T him up.
