Obviously, enough of the democratic leadership doesn't agree with that assessment. Our government does entirely too many symbolic acts in lieu of real action. And what actions we do take... well, too bad more of those weren't symbolic.

God I would love for the Democrats to (at least try to) impeach Chaney. What a waste of time and political capital it was when the 'pubs started impeachment proceedings against Clinton. Maybe after Chaney they can get Bush so Pelosi can take over, then the Dems might feel the need to let her run as their candidate.
The difference is Cheney deserves it. What's the same is that the American people agree with the Dems.
call it political games, or diversions, or whatever... if anybody deserves to be impeached, it's cheney. the man -and this administration as a whole - has trampled all over the constitution with absolutely NO repercussions, no worry of consequences, no one to answer to. hell, cheney has practically said that out loud in interviews. he views the executive branch as his personal play toy... get him the hell out of there.
