If the Mavs were to beat the Hornets today, the Rockets beat the Hornets, and the TWolves lose in Dallas then our game with the Mavericks will not matter to them at the end of the season. They will have secured the 6th seed, with NO/Utah battling it out for the 8th seed.

This is just about the only logical scenario where that last game of the season will not matter. This game is VERY big for us today as it could very well determine whether we are a 2 seed or a 5 seed.

    GO MAVS!

6th seed = meet up with rockets if we get 3rd seed. Considering Mav's is the hottest team in the west right now except for the lakers, I'd say it's probably the worst matchup for us

I understand and semi agree with your logic as it puts us in a good position without us tanking as some have suggested, but don't you ever EVER ever say "go mavs". Atleast make it demeaning like "go ponies" or something.

You're right. Lets settle for the 5th seed and no homecourt advantage.

Blazers over Nuggets = 2nd seed.

This is what I am looking for.

I am too busy cheering for Yao to get better.

All else doesn't matter to me.

If Hornets win tonight, it increases our chances of not playing the Jazz, and increases our chances of playing the Hornets.

Im assuming we get 2nd seed, so all we have to do is win out and hope that Nuggets lose @ Portland.

i could care less what the lower dregs of the west are doing. the only scenario that i'm remotely interested in concerning them is Utah staying in eighth, and that requires that New Orleans doesn't lose their last three games, which could very well happen if they lose today. that's because no one really knows if the Rockets will be 2nd or 3rd or worse, but 1st is impossible. i'm just hoping that the Spurs, Blazers and Nuggets all lose at least one game, then the last game for the Rockets really doesn't matter.

It looks like NO will be 8 and Utah will be 7 in your scenario. If the rockets move up to 2 then we would face utah in the first round. When need NO to win today, then the rockets will win against NO tomorrow. This will keep Utah 8 will the rockets get the 2 spot.

You are hoping for alot. The Nuggets and Blazers only have two games left, one against each other. For them to each lose another game, either the Kings will have to win in Denver, or OKC in Portland.

Then if we lose at Dallas, who is unstoppable at home lately, we are most likely the 5th seed. Good idea chief.

I'm going for the Hornets.. I don't what this thread is all about. But, it's better if we have the Hornets win the game.

I'll break it down for you...Dallas wins today, they rest their starters against us the last game of the year. Dallas loses today, they come out like gangbusters and most likely beat us the last game of the year. Easy enough?

not necessarily. if the mavs win against the wolves (which they should) before they play us, things could be different. nola needs to win today to further cement the jazz @ the 8th.

anyhow, seeding is less important now than yao's foot. our season success again hinges on our star player's bones and joints now, which is not a good feeling.

**** Dallas, and I'm so sick of hearing they are hot

they are the same 7-3 over that past 10 games and have won 3 in a row to our 4

I'm not rooting for them because I want to win out and have Denver lose to Portland and play Dirk the douch in the first round

Then New Orleans will do the same to us tomorrow. PLUS, that would mean the Rockets will most likely end up playing the Mavs if we keep the 3rd seed and Denver doesn't lose.

If the Mavs win today and at home against the Wolves, they will secure the 6th seed. How could things be any different? I understand that Yao's health is more important than seeding, but what can we do about Yao's foot?

My second priority is for us to win these last two games. If Yao has to rest then so be it, but I would rather face a Mavs bench then a team that is still fighting for playoff positioning.

Who cares about cementing Utah in the 8th seed?! Have you seen the way they are playing lately?? If we matched up with them in the first round and STILL lost, then we don't deserve to go to the second round.

This is the best team we have had the last three years going into the playoffs, and Utah is clearly not playing at the level they were last year. I don't see how we lose to them.

New Orleans will do what to us?? Denver has to play a meaningful game @ Portland. I don't see them winning that. What has Dallas done lately other than win home games?

I hope they go to 2-3 OTs. The hornets will play the rockets tomorrow!
