Well, it happened again. My home PC is bringing up the blue screen of death. This time, it says the problem is a page fault in a non-paged area. I've looked up what typically causes the problem. (apparently it occurs when Norton's anti-virus gets corrupted) Problem is, I can't seem to uninstall it. (for some reason of which I have no idea, my computer won't give my any other options other than normal mode when I hit F8.) Anyway, I took this to computer place back in January, and that diagnostic cost $75. I'm seeing if y'all know of a cheaper place to go to rectify this. Thanks in advance.
i've been meaning to start a thread like this. my personal laptop has been dead for a while. it tells me spyware has infected my computer, blah blah blah. will be interested in the results here and sorry for piggy-backing ffb.
Lol. No problem. That reminds me that I also have a laptop that needs some work done, if only to resell it.
What kind of spyware does it say? Whenever my nephew and nieces come down for a visit they almost always get this sort of crap on my computer. I just google the type of spyware and every time I have I have found a solution and what programs to use in order to remove it.
I told you long ago Im cheaper than any place in town, you just dont like coming out to this side of town.
You don't read your previous threads on the same subjects, do you? Half of this forum's geeks, including me, can fix your computer problems, brother. Cheap.
i'll check on that...i try to run something for as long as i have the computer on, but it always automatically shuts off before it can even finish.
What program tells you that sypware has infected your computer, blah blah blah? Is it Internet Explorer? Is it just another pop-up tricking you into downloading some company's spyware-checking software? Beware of phony phishing schemes, sir. Can you post a photo from your phone that displays your screen as it shows this? [before it shuts down]
i get those popups from the bottom right that tells me i've been infected and need an upgrade...my entire background is a blue screen with the same message. i try running adaware (i think that's the name of it), but to no avail. i'll try to post something tonight. thanks!
The key in removing the "upgrade or else!" pop-up thingie is to know if it's really a legit program or one that shouldn't be there or you installed without knowledge. It might be cumbersome or tedious, but you must watch the screen as it does this. If it is from a program you have to prevent pop-ups, then you must upgrade it. Else, you must remove the one showing you that message. Run Task Manager and keep it up that's what she said on the screen just as you do your regular work (Task Manager will always stay on top of all winders). As soon as the pop up that demands an upgrade shows up, look at your Task Manager and note if the name of the program showing the pop up is one you know of (Norton, McAfee, Panda anti-virus, etc.). This is just the beginning of the troubleshooting process, Mr. Googlerux. EDIT: somewhat like this here FAKE warning. Here is another FAKE ALERT. Beware.
Alright, well stipendlax worked his ass off, and I completely am gracious for his efforts, but we ran into another complete SNAFU. For whatever reason, the computer now will not recognize the internet connection. We both tried installing tons of new LAN drivers, and everything installed properly, yet the computer will not recognize it. (when we go to "enable" it will connect, check the IP address, and go immediately back to "unplugged") It is frustrating as hell. Any advice, peeps?
