Where are some cheap places in Dallas to buy home furniture? The apartment is in north Dallas (close to the intersection of the Bush Turnpike and the Dallas North Tollway). So if you know any cheap furniture places close to this area, that would be most helpful. I am looking for a bed, dining table, sofa, etc. Your help is appreciated. Thanks
I just bought mine from Freed's furniture...It's off of Midway and LBJ, just south of you...They have a clearance section which is where I just bought a bed, dining table, etc...I think its www.freeds.net You'll like living where your at...All the bars in Addison are down the road from you on Beltline...Try Dukes, which I did last night and it was pretty packed for a Tuesday night...They also have a Sam's boat and Flying Saucer...Also, while in Addison, try Addison Circle, Zen Bar and Ruby...
Actually, where that Freed's at, if you go behind the store, there's a road that has a bunch of furniture places that are way underpriced. Check 'em out and see if you like it.
Freed's itself isn't cheap, but their clearance items, like rrj_gamz said, can have bargains. If you go down the road from there on LBJ to Midway, hang a right on Midway... the next couple of streets have quite a few furniture stores there. That whole area is the "furniture district" of Dallas. On the following map, if you go West on LBJ, then north on Midway, take a right on McEwen, Simonton, or Alpha... each of those streets and the surrounding area will have discount furniture stores. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Dallas,+Tx.&ll=32.933632,-96.835299&spn=0.014660,0.033174&hl=en You could always try the Rooms To Go and Room Store type places as well. If you want to wait, Ikea opens in August at the intersection of 121 and the Tollway (up north around Frisco).
He said cheap, if it's in Frisco they will charge you 4x as much call it better, but it will still be crap...
Except for one thing : that IKEA is going to cater to a lot more people than Frisco. People will be coming in from Louisiana, Oklahoma, and other parts of Texas. I doubt they'd jack up prices much if any over other IKEA stores as I doubt Frisco is going to keep that location afloat by itself. Besides, Frisco peeps shop at Haverty's, Freed's, etc. Damn snobs. j/k.
Harry Hines Blvd.......Hookers and Furniture I live off of Spring Valley and Midway, across from Greenhill School.
I have heard that Harry Hines Boulevard is notorious for fake merchandise (purses, wallets, etc.). Is that true?
Yes. And don't go at night... Harry Hines is like a cross between Harwin Rd. and what South Main near the Dome used to be like in the 80's. Hookers, fake merchandise, etc. is a good description. They do have a lot of Korean restaurants there, though. There are legit stores around there, too. If it's daytime you may want to swing around there just for the hell of it and see if you see any furniture stores. Take a few showers after you get home, though...
Good info as I'll be looking for some soon. If it's the same Sunnyland that was in Houston, I could've sworn people used to say it was way overpriced though.
The bed was about $380 for a King Bed frame (wood sleigh bed)...and the tile kitchen table with 5 chairs was about $360...Clearance is where its at...
