Chavez calls W the devil in UN speech... http://hotair.com/archives/2006/09/20/video-chavez-flips-out-at-the-un/ <embed src="http://hotair.cachefly.net/video/flvplayer.swf?file=http://hotair.cachefly.net/video/2006-09/chavez-un1Mbps.flv&autoStart=false;" quality="high" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
He bumped into him in the bathroom, Bush tried to say excuse me, but Chavez reportedly said "habla con la mano"
Isn't Chavez a communist? Why the hell is he even allowed to talk? Communism has proven to be an incorrect economic idea. Also, should we reallly be interested in what poor countries think? Theyr'e poor for a reason. I'd rather be the devil than a poor communist.
So far, he is just a populist reforming the entrenched olgarchy and freely elected I might add. He knows he has no hope of support from the US who have been closley allied with the rich families and oil companies that have controled the country's politics since 1958 so he plays up the US as his adversary to rally the people in Bolivarian nationalism. The US did passively support a coup attempt shortly after his election so he has reason to be paranoid. He has to establish a cult of personality so he has to appear fearless and in the face of the all powerful US. I'd say there is a good chance he will go the Presidente' For Life (dictator) route like his good buddy Castro. But other than looking like he's nuts to Americans, the jury is still out. If you are poor in Venezuala and he is promising to share the county's vast oil wealth instead of having it just enrich the same old families and corporations, he's probably looking like a hero to you.
Have you ever been out of the ****ing country? They will never like us. When your'e that much better than everyone else, they will naturally not like you. It's the nature of competetion, when your'e at the top, ppl will attack you. I'm dead serious when i say i don't understand why he's allowed to talk at the UN. Communism is a wrong idea. It's like a scientist preaching that the world is flat, it's just not true.
Chavez isn't a communist. He might be implementing socialist policies, but doing so doesn't make him evil. He has never once threatened the American people, his bone to pick is with the Bush administration itself.
Funny that wasn't the case before Bush took over. FYI, UN is a world body, not something US owns. US does not own the world. It is exactly your way of thinking that validates Chavez's accusation. And from the clip CNN showed, Chavez's speech was well received, probably better than the one Bush gave. It is a shame. Instead of getting angry with the situation and becoming defensive, we should address the problem directly, and the problem is Bush administration and its pocilies.
Yes I've been out of the country before and to several player hating nations in areas like the Middle East, Europe, East Asia, and South Asia. And I can say that the average person in those various areas have much angrier sentiment towards the US than say 10 years ago. And comments like yours certainly do little do disabuse us of the notion of the "ugly American."
Have you ever been out of the country? Did Mom and Dad take you on a trip, so you feel like you are some sort of international expert? Dude, you are embarrassing yourself. Are you still in high school? if you are, I suggest that you transfer to a school where they actually teach you something. You can't even type a coherent sentence. With all due respect. Keep D&D Civil.
Just goes to show how much progress terrorists and propagandists have made amongst those mostly poor, uneducated, ignorant populations. Just like the very low moral and low ethic leadership that our African-American population has been plagued with since the death of MLK, these poor foreign citizens of these rogue nations are being pimped by those propagandists and terrorists and they don't even know it. They keep them poor, keep them dumb and ignorant, where they can manipulate them. There was nothing of any substance to Chavez's speech, just a bunch of rhetoric designed to encite idiots and polarize the masses. I'm glad that our government chose to not even dignify it with a response.
The most disturbing part of the whole speech was not what Chavez said -- it's just Chavez being Chavez -- but rather the reaction it got from the audience (that would be world leaders). What I saw was diplomats/leaders clapping with enthusiasm, and many of those who withheld their applause had a big ol' smile on their faces, they couldn't even hide it. Shameful...
Well the PRC are Commies and they let them speak. Heck they even get a permanent seat on the Security Council.
I have been to 20-some countries...and I can tell you that you wouldn't be liked in any of them with that attitude.
