NBA Charlotte To Unveil Team Name June 11 The Charlotte NBA expansion franchise will unveil itsnew team name, colors and logo and host a basketball street festival for fans at Trade and Tryon Streets in Uptown Charlotte on June 11. The team name will be chosen from one of three finalists the franchise announced last month – Charlotte Bobcats, Charlotte Dragons, Charlotte Flight. The NBA Charlotte naming process began nearly six months ago when the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission collected over 1,250 team name suggestions from Charlotte-area residents. Polygamists? Ouch, tough crowd. I think it's going to be "Carolina" whatever. Probably Flight. Total copy off of Huntsville's NBDL team. So let me get this straight.... A team that won't compete for at least a year and a half will have their name, colors, AND uniforms unveiled BEFORE Houston does. Wow that's pathetic.
I prefer Dragons but they will probably go with Flight. Another thought: the Spiders and the arena could be known as Charlotte's Web.
Not a great list but clearly Dragons is the best option there. Bobcats is just lame (sounds like a HS team name) and Flight is absolutely gay! I am not a big fan of those team mascots that are abstract objects and Flight is just dorky. Who cares if it has ties to NC? At least with Dragons it is an object that people can rally behind. I am sure a cool logo could be made with this. Also, not that you should TOTALLY market your brand to kids entirely. But at least for the kids group you DO market too, Dragons is a better fit besides Bobcats and Flight.
I dont like none of them but to me Bobcats sounds better because flight sound likes a WNBA name and Dragon just dont sound right! Cause they arent going to be named Charlotte their going with Carolina. So its going to sound: Carolina Dragons (Uh No) Carolina Bobcats (Still Bad but better) Carolina Flight (Can anybody say GAY!)
if utah would give the Jazz back to New Orleans, this whole mess could be solved!!! then utah could name their team anything they wanted...no one outside of utah would care.
It should be the "Black" Bass or "Black" Panthers... since owner of the BET bought the Hornets, Im looking for an all-black personell staff and players for this new Charlotte franchise.

I propose a 3 way trade. Utah becomes the Grizzlies, New Orleans becomes the Jazz & Memphis become the Hornets. Charlotte should name themselves the Unnecessary because that is what the team is.
Flight has to be the stupidest team name I have ever heard. Sounds like a WNBA team. Dragons or Bobcats are fine.
All three of those suck. But I guess the overall best is Carolina Dragons. Dosent sound very good, but they should be able to work with Dragons. I cant wait to see the Logo but IMO they should wait untill after next season to unveil the jerseys. They will probably want to change them next year anyways. Wait, are they unveiling the jerseys?
