Floods and mudslides created in the typhoon’s wake destroyed many villages taking the innocent lives of more than 400 people and displacing over 14,000 others. The Tzu Chi Foundation immediately began a Typhoon Relief Fund sending 17,000 volunteers and delivering over 200,000 hot meals with eco-friendly reusable utensils and containers. With great success, the organization has delivered 25 tons of instant rice, 2,000 boxes of instant noodles, 34,000 eco-friendly blankets, utensils, and other necessities. To this day, donations ranging from USD $2,000 to $10,000 per household have been graciously given to 12,000 families in the most devastated areas. As of August 28th, Tzu Chi has implemented the Permanent Schooling Plan to assist in the education of displaced children. In order to continue their efforts to assist those affected by the disaster, Tzu Chi requires the support from people like us. For this charity event, the Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce – Houston Chapter presents Houston born and raised comedian Sheng Wang, who has donated his time and talent to perform for this benefit. Sheng Wang has developed and polished his comedy skills in the thriving stand-up community of the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to touring with the Comedians of Comedy and American Eagle's Campus Challenge, he has also appeared on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham. TJCC's mission is to provide a networking opportunity for new generations of Taiwanese Americans to foster the positive professional and entrepreneurial spirit.
I saw Bob Biggerstaff a couple of years ago on New Year's Eve and then had a drink with him after the show. Very funny and very nice guy.
I'll attend only if Batman Jones is telling me why white people are so very, very different from black people.
