Definitely a darkhorse Super Bowl contender... potent offense and a top ranked D, and special teams is improving.

I say they run the table from here on..

    Remaining Schedule:

    Oakland Raiders
    Kansas City Chiefs
    San Francisco 49ers
    Cincinnati Bengals
    Denver Broncos

And we would have beaten them most likely if not for the fluke interception off of AJ's leg.

It looked like on that play if they had connected AJ was going to the house or at least very close.

Chargers pretty much were playing without their top 5 WR's , they were playing with guys from the UPS , Wal mart and a Mc Donald's guy by Katy .

I'm not sure they should be a darkhorse. I think they are arguably the best team in the AFC. New England has serious pass defense issues; New York has offense issues. They just crushed Indy. Pittsburgh has been struggling with both offensive & defensive consistency since Big Ben came back.

San Diego really has all the pieces except suspect the ability to protect their punter, though they seem to have addressed that in recent weeks. Their biggest issue that their early season stupidity cost them home field, so they will probably have to play at some combo of crappy weather between Pittsburgh, New England, and New York.

They'll make their late-season run as always, but even if Rivers keeps playing like Dan Marino I don't see Norvel Eugene Turner ever leading a team to glory.

All more supporting evidence for Rivers for MVP. And they haven't even had their december hot streak yet. Ugh

SD will run the table and lose in the 1st rd again. Their act is old. Cant take them serious as a SB contender.

They have made it to the afc champ game few yrs ago , they have won big playoff games in the past years . Yes i agree they haven't the SB , but they are legit contenders every year since Rivers has been a QB in 06 .

Yep... it happens every year. Then when it comes to the playoffs.. they start to suck.

 In Rivers' 4 years in the playoffs, he's lost twice in the first round, won 1 game once, and won 2 games once. That's not exactly a pattern.

For real ... and considering the quality of teams in the AFC in recent years, I think they have done just fine in the playoffs since Marty left. Last year was a disappointment losing to the Jets the way they did, but I think they have performed above average some years in taking out the Colts when they were not favored. Also damn near took out the Patriots in New England in their 16-0 year with a severely hobbled LT.

Bad choice of words on my part saying 1st rd but I was trying to say SD will win 11 games and lose in the 2nd rd to a team like the Steelers or Ravens. Good regular season team but cant get over the hump in the postseason. Think of them as the NFL version of the Atlanta Braves.

And Rivers, he played with a torn ACL.

I like to see them more as the the Dallas Mavericks of the NFL.

But they really aren't. Here's their history:

2006: Rivers' first playoff game - he sucked; they lost at home 24-21 to New England.

2007: They beat Tennessee at home and then went on the road and beat Indy. They then lost to 17-0 New England on the road with an injured Tomlinson and Rivers.

2008: They beat Indy at home and then lost to the eventual Superbowl champion Steelers on the road.

2009: Lost 17-14 at home to the Jets.

Yeah, it's disappointing. But outside of last year, I don't think any was a real major failure. 2006 was the Rivers' first playoff game - most QB's struggle there, especially against New England. In 2007 & 2008, they lost to better teams.
