Channel 13 news just stated that Dawson said the job is Van Gundy's if he wants it. That they have notified the other semifinalist.

    Looks like a done deal.

Jeff Van Gundy's the perfect guy for the job. He's committed to this team, and in it for the long term. Believe it!

Good!! We may not have a Mavs or Kings style Offense, like some on the BBS want, but we will have discipline. And that is what this team has lacked for along time. I can sleep better knowing that Mikey boy can go to Hotlanta now!!!!:D

I must say that it's getting quite old seeing people comment on these world class coaches as if they are unable to coach multiple styles of offenses/defenses...

"I don't want Don Nelson because he'll bring that Mavs no defense."
"I don't want Pat Riley because he'll bring a boring team."
"Fratello sucks because of the Cavs."

You're a moron if you think these guys that spend their entire lives devoted to basketball don't know how to run more than one style of ball. It's called "Coaching towards your team's strengths."

They must have gotten that from 610 and everyone else today.

Knicks had no talent so they had to slow down the game to be given a chance.

The Rockets are the exact opposite. They have too much talent, and they need someone to knock some sense into them.

Please don't expect to see the same offense/defense as that of the Knicks. Van Gundy has already stated that if he was the coach of the Rockets, he would get the ball to Yao everytime down the floor. Now who doesn't want that?

I definitely agree. Our offense will improve drastically with the new motion offense designed by Van Gundy. Also, Jeff's the last coach to take a #8 seed to the Finals.

Mobley, Griffin and even Francis will not be spared from Van Gundy's ranting ....which is a welcome change from Rudy's laid back approach to discipline....

    VAN GUNDY=ASSERTIVE DISCIPLINE=BETTER TEAM:) :) :)

Once again, I use former Spurs head coach Bob Hill as an example.

Obviously he was a decent coach until he was fired by GM Poppovich.

So what was his next coaching job?

    Atlantic-10 member Fordham University.
In 4 years, the Rams were a COMBINED 38-76. He was canned in April after signing a 10-year, $2.5 million contract. This season alone was the worst in Fordham's history, 4-24. Two of those wins were forfeits by St. Bonaventure (which actually won both games).

Anyway, you can't say that these coaches are good or bad, regardless how devoted they are to winning. Bob Hill wasa mistake. I'm not saying VG is bad for this or that Nelson sucks because of this; I'm just saying that coaches like them can struggle and have those flaws that concerns fans.

But I look forward to VG's feistiness.

When somebody throws punches at Steve Francis, or Yao Ming, I expect JVG to jump on the ankles of the opponent.

    Hmm....I watched like every channel.

First..Fox...then NBC...then CBS..then ABC. They all repeated the same thing! Same exact clip of Sammy Sosa and his corked bat! Same exact interviews! Same exact stuff! I want exclusive info!

Well yes. It is Jeff Van Gundy.

    I don't see why he won't accept.

    I hope he will accept.

And I post every 164.5714286 minutes.

I want you to stop posting every 5 minutes, because its not necessary and insane. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way either.

You'll get your info when something breaks.

In the meantime, relax have fun, and ease up on the posting please.

Did he really say that? If he did, then I think we've got the right coach.

Maybe he spent all that time off learning Ju-Jitsu? He seems to enjoy grappling. :D
