DoD, please keep your old butt out of this one. ;)

OK, so I've worked at an apt. locating company for a month. I made 4800.00 and was the #2 agent in my first month. Now, I have an offer to take a job for another locating company where my max earning potential is over 100K.

A couple of things to consider.

    1. Current job has a max earning potential of 50K.
    2. But, it is at least ten to 15 miles closer.
    3. Current job is student based, so lots of clients, but they are very indecisive.
    4. New job has alot of people who move in now. current job doesn't. I probably won't get paid until October at current job.
    5. Like current boss, but can't stand the manager under him right now. I like my coworkers here, a bunch of frattys and 40-50 year old ladies. New job would be 22-32 year old people.

Don't know what to do. I hate quitting after a month and my boss would be pissed, but I think the potential income gap is worth the drive and changing to a new job.

    Advice anyone?

It sounds like you know what you want. I would take the new job that has better earning potential. So what if you drive a little more, if you get more cash it is worth it. Go for it man and good luck! :)

Outside of the fact that it's 10-15 miles farther away, are there any downsides to the newer job?

Major, I don't know anyone there, and I also am comfortable at the current job. Also, the new bosses while laid back, do seem to be more about "production." Of course, comfort and "hating to quit" has nothing to do with the new job.

I'm an independant contractor basically. I can come and go as I please. New job is more flexible and potentially alot more lucrative. Like I said, 50K versus 100+. Of course, while dealing with the general population, I may have a convict (like DoD or R95 ;) ) in my car.

I don't want this to be a commentary on America, but if you can double your salary doing the same thing, I guess you would do it? This isn't about feelings, it's about my future. I have to tell myself that. My friends all say "take the new job, dumb ass, "lol.
Do I sound capitalistic? But, other than health, family, inner peace, etc., aren't we here to make the most money we

Old boss is on vacation and will be back on Tuesday.
