One of the concern that I have with this Rockets regime is that the does not seem to be interested in developing young players. Aside from Luther Head and Yao, what rookie or 1st-year player have the Rox allowed to even play. They seem content in bringing in retreaded garbage to fill out the roster each year. I would rather draft talented young players and bring them along with TMAC and Yao and wait on this team to get better. Van Gundy and his system has little patience for younger players. I remember the teams he had in NY and all the players were old-slow veteran players(Ewing, Jackson, Ward, etc). Just because you have a veteran team, does not qualify you for the playoffs! Older players are more often content(loaded bank accounts) and are more prone to injuries after all the years of pounding they take. I would be a lot more patient with talented younger players than with older player with very limited potential!

That's right, because Rafer Alston, Stromile Swift, Chuck Hayes, Maciej Lampe and Keith Bogans are all sitting in their rocking chairs waiting for their grandchildren to be born.

The rockets do need to make a change somewhere. As much as I hate to say it, they need to take a page out of the Mavericks book. They seem to find young athletic players every year and plug them in to their system.
