I think somebody should put up a thread concerning how to pay Parsons. When he's done with his rookie contract in about 2 1/2 years, I think he's going to ask for $10million+ per year contract at least. BTW why is he getting low-balled big time for so long? His dumb @$$ agent set him up with such a big long rookie contract? It's good for the Rockets but dude's production makes you feel bad for the fella. I think he's smart and his production will be even better, potentially consistent All Star caliber. How do the Rockets afford this guy after 2015 season? Next contract has to consider the low-balling rookie cash.....

lol..there is so much fail in this post. made me laugh.

I think somebody should put up a thread concerning how to pay Parsons yeah we need new threads about 'underpaid' NBA players. Also, this HAS been discussed a lot already.

BTW why is he getting low-balled big time for so long?
ummm..its called 32 teams passed up on him and the Rockets snagged him in the 2nd round. 2nd rounders can sign 2 yr min contracts or longer. LONGER aka for 4 years, its very risky for the NBA team. How many 2nd rounders can you name that have panned out and become stars? waiting...waiting...my point is, if you look at the odds, the ROCKETS took the huge gamble and it turned out well for them. Also Parsons got a 4 year contract when most 2nd rounders sign for 2, overall less pay, and they don't pan out anyways and are out of the league playing in Turkey. So it was viewed as a WIN WIN at the time, and still should be viewed as such.

His dumb @$$ agent set him up with such a big long rookie contract? his 'dumb a** agent' was probably eccstatic he got any coin out of a 2nd rounder that nonone thought would amount to anything. 9 out of 10 an agent does that deal because there are SERIOUS questions surrounding 2nd rounders.

It's good for the Rockets but dude's production makes you feel bad for the fella lol...why should we feel bad for a guy that gets to workout for a living, play a game, get laid all the time, be a media star, make potentially lots more on endorsement deals AND make almost $1M/yr??? Gee, I forgot how great it was to be a teacher, or a policeman, or even a small business owner making less than $100K, don't feel bad for those people at all!
<-------serious that was a dumb comment

How do the Rockets afford this guy after 2015 season? umm..we have some of the best cap room in the biz, one of the smartest GMs and and and other teams don't magically have the ability to 'afford' him and the rockets don't. Plus we hold all sorts of extension rights I believe.

Next contract has to consider the low-balling rookie cash
And why is that? Should players like Hibbert, boozer, turkyglu, stoudamire, bynum give their over-bloated crap contracts back because of underperforming??? Does the NBA have performance requirements on guaranteed money that says "if you suck, you owe us $X millions back?" No. So why do we have to 'take his rookie contract into consideration"? it goes both ways. Its a chess match, a game of gambles, and a game of wits. The NBA team tries to craft the best deal for it and the player does likewise. Neither really gives a crap how 'good' the deal is for the other party...and there surely aren't any rebates, just as the teams that forked over tons of dough for Gilbert Arenas, Rashard Lewis, Kelvin Cato :)eek:)..the NBA is riddled today and in years past with horrible contracts. Rarely are the contracts "undervalued."

    LMAO this post just...

I think if Rockets trade Parsons, the dynamics of anything special about the Rockets takes a nose dive big time. I think Parsons has remarkable B-Ball IQ for a second year player and great athleticism but not elite. Based on others that play a stretch 4? or combo 3/4? I think he might be the best of what's available. He's a keeper for building a championship team.

Brings back memories of a young Robert Horry but he took off from farther back when he did it.

Dude plays like a seasoned vet yet without the experience. You are a smart man to see it the way I do.

When Parsons' contract is up the Rockets will have full Bird rights and thus be able to go over the cap to re-sign him. Lin and Asik's contracts will be up at that point as well. Ideally the Rockets will have already found their 2nd all-star and be a contender. If so they can re-sign all three even if it means paying tax to keep a contender together. Else they can evaluate who is worth keeping of Parsons/Lin/Asik.
