Hornet is being really cheap. They fired Silas and hired Tim Floyd? Isn't that suicidal? I don't know how they are going to survive or why any player want to stay there.

Is there a chance to trade Rice/Cato for Mashburn? That would improve our F position a lot.

Because they are out of their mind and they are cheap! Firing Silas and hiring Floyd prove that.

Tim Floyd is a good coach...it wasn't his fault he was stuck with idiots in Chicago. Plus, Tim Floyd can't be one to ask for a lot of money anyways because his record in chicago isn't deserving of one (but if he had competent players, like NO does, he can show he's a good coach).

I said they are cheap. That is exactly why they let Silas go and got Floyd. Cato is a good inside force for a cheap price, and Rice has outside shooting touch and only one year left on his contract. I bet they will give it a thought. Think, Cato fits their physical play and Rice satisfies their cheap taste.

but rice and cato aren't cheap. besides, i'm happy with Posey at small forward. I don't see why we need another scorer.

How much do Mashburn make? I really don't know. Twice of what Cato earns? Rice has one year left only.

Mashburn makes ~$8.5m...about a mil less than Rice but a little more than Cato or Taylor. I love Mash, but fail to see why the Hornets would give up an All Star caliber player for role players. Especially since Magliore is comparable and less costly than Cato. The Hornets will have enough cap space next summer to get an impact player even without Glen Rice's expiring contract. There would be much better deals on the table if NO wanted to trade Mashburn.
