I was JUST about to post a thread about this. I think (hope like hell) Liverpool gets the upset. Liverpool 2 Milan 1
I have no rooting interest in either, I just wanna see a great game. Knowing the way Italian soccer is however, it is going to be a defensive struggle as AC Milan will pack its defense in and play not to lose rather than play to win by attacking. I like Seedorf and Schevchenko so I kinda hope AC Milan wins.
"Watching" at work through ESPN Soccernet -- now Liverpool's only down 3-2 after 10 minutes. And now we're tied on a rebound after a penalty kick.
PK's is a horrible way to end a game like this. Witness the FA Cup final over the weekend, Man United DOMINATED Arsenal, even Wenger admitted it, over 120 minutes, but lost on PKs.
The irony of the Pk's, is that shevchenko's pk in 2003 clinched the CL trophy for Milan. His kick this time was weak. Dudek is a very good goalkeeper but he was way off his line on the second penalty kick. But he had great saves when Milan threatened. In this case the better team won. For Milan to blow a 3 goal lead is not only unheard of but downright embarrassing. 3 Goals!!! It's not like Milan doesn't know how to sit on the ball and play keep away. Cheers to Liverpool, they played through the pain and they played way over their heads. They deserved it.
I watched it live. Like I said, you need to score to be dominant. I read most of the English papers and aside from the obvious ManU ass kissing most of the papers pointed out it was only fitting that the Red Devils season long problem of putting the ball in the net came back to bite them in the butt (and I don't mean Nicky Butt). I don't remember seeing Wenger say Arsenal were DOMINATED. "I have sympathy for Manchester United," said Wenger. "They played very well and it is difficult to lose games like that when you have the chances. "But that is part of the game. Out of 10 Cup Finals you win a few and lose a few and today they lost. They created more chances than us but they didn't take them."
As did I, and I'm assuming you mean you have to score to be dominant. If you watched the game, there's no way you can say that Arsenal were the better team. United dominated the midfield throughout the 120 minutes, and I think Carrol only made one save in the entire game. The only thing that kept you alive was Lehmann. Control of the ball, and only one chance in 120 minutes shows that you were dominated, the fact that Lehmann made a few unbelievable saves doesn't change that. A 12-1 corners advantage and a 14-2 shots on target advantage proves my point. Anyway, as much as I hate to say it, congrats to the scousers, they showed a ton of heart to comeback and win. The only silver lining for me is that the liekly won't ne able to defend their title next year.
We won, we were the better team. You can have all the possession you want and all the corners etc you want, every game. I'll take the W. Possession and shots on goal are worthless unless you score. I think its silly to say you DOMINATED a team you lost against.
