We can use this as a "chat update" thread as long as it is going. Right now, Chad Ford is chatting on the draft over at ESPN, and mentions this as a possibility with pick 15: They (Toronto) really like Dickau. It's possible they could work something out with Indiana at No. 14 or Houston at No. 15. Both teams wouldn't mind moving down. If neither Dickau nor Jiri Welsch are on the board at No. 20, they may trade out. Hmm... what could we get as incentive for moving down? I doubt Keon Clark is a possibility, but they do have a lot of big men. I'd guess if we traded down that Tayshaun Prince would be the target. Maybe we could get them to give up their next year's first rounder again.
Jeff (Kingstowne, VA): OK... Lets play a little word association... Woods Nachbar Wagner Dickau Jeffries Chad Ford: (2:30 PM ET ) Woods=A WalMart McGrady; Nachbar=Mike Miller with an accent; Wagner=Allen Iverson with a few less answers; Dickau=John Stockton on a bad hair day; Jeffries=Tim Thomas on dexitrim
You're right on the money as far as Tayshaun Prince goes. He's been on our radar from day 1. Apparently he played really well in workouts. I think this deal may hinge on whether or not Nachbar is available at #15. The Wizards are said to be considering taking Nachbar at #11. Unless a miracle happens, and Woods or Stoudamire slip to #15, the next player on our board is Tayshaun Prince. Toronto likes Dickau at #15, and will give us cash and the #20 to move up.
I don't see us trading with Toronto. They don't have anyone we'd need other than Keon. Jiri Welsch's stock is rising really fast. Do you know what other teams Nachbar worked out with. It looks like Miami won't be picking him so our only worry would be Washington unless a trade occurs.
http://dynamic.espn.go.com/espn/chat/chatESPN?event_id=1982 Chad Ford: (2:46 PM ET ) Just heard that the Wizards traded Courtney Alexander to the Hornets for the No. 17 Chad Ford: (2:47 PM ET ) Expect the Wizards to take either Jiri Welsch or Bostjan Nachbar with the No. 17 or they'll move it to Denver in return for James Posey. adam: who do you see winning rookie of the year this year, and who do you see becoming the first all star? Chad Ford: (2:59 PM ET ) ROY: Jay Williams; ALL ROOKIE TEAM: Williams, Caron Butler, Dajuan Wagner, Bostjan Nachbar, Emmanuel Ginobili Chad Ford: (3:01 PM ET ) Gotta run folks! Wizards give up Alexander for #17? And at #17 they are looking at Welsch or Nachbar? I bet at #11 they are looking at WAGNER. He is falling and could fall to them. Then they will HOPE to get Nachbar at #17. If this is how it plays out then Houston can snag Nachbar at #15 before them. Chris
I don't foresee a match in terms of a trade between us and Toronto. I'll mention a few players: -Alvin Williams would make a nice fit as a 3rd guard, in place of Moochie, but that requires moving Moochie. -Morris Peterson is a SG. If the Rockets thought otherwise, they would've drafted him in place of Collier -JYD is a nice high energy guy, but we'd need to remove one of our 4s to fit him in, and he has a big contract. I suppose if Nachbar, Woods, Stoudemire are all gone, and we don't want Welsch, it'd make some sense to move down, but Toronto doesn't have a high quality 3 in the wings that'd make it worth our while to trade.
What a shameless plug for Insider. Info comes like sports talk info did. If Prince is after Nachbar on the wish list than trading down would be good, I guess. I am not a fan of Prince though. Maybe the Rockets see more than a set shooter in him.
