"Isiah was stuck with too many bad contracts to get cap space anytime soon. I've liked some of his moves (Marbury, Norris) and I haven't liked others as much (Wilkens, Tim Thomas, etc.) . The bottome line, however, is that Isiah's painted himself into a corner with all the long term contracts he's handing out and trading for. He's got the wiggle room to do one more big deal. If it's Crawford or Dampier, he's probably done for the summer. If it's Damp, I think the Knicks will be contenders in the East. If it's Crawford . . . eh, not so much. I like Jamal, but I don't see him as the piece that puts them over the top."

That really cracks me up. Not only does he think acquiring Moochie was a good move for the Knicks, but he put it in the same bracket as acquiring Marbury. That made me laugh so hard when I read it. :D

Dampier is the kind of player that puts a team over the top?

well Moochie has played well for the Knicks... hes probably a fan favorite over there too.. or maybe he was focusing on getting rid of Spoons contract? we moved a useless big contract for a useful big contract and they did the same.

Dampier would make a big difference for the Knicks giving them a solid inside presence. I dont think he means Damp is a difference maker but is a solid piece to add to a team that needs it.

    J

or maybe he just sucks. =P

I thought CD should be named GM of the year simply for finding a sucker to take Moochie off our hands. :D

Moochie played well for them for a couple of weeks, then went back to being, well.....Moochie. Didn't he not make the playoff roster so they could include Houston, who had a very slim chance of even stepping onto the court?

The Knicks had to many power forwards on the roster. Clarence is overpaid also.

I think many are to quick to criticize someone else. I don't think that Ford was saying the addition of Mooch was a boon. It was a trade of contracts. If I recall correctly NY picked up more money, but it dropped off sooner. I'm not familure with the specifics of the Knicks salary situation (except to know that it is ****** up), but that trade took the handcuffs off of them and allowed some mobility. For the Knicks who were looking for an immediate splash, that trade accomplished their goal. It was a good trade for both sides. Not a great trade, not an earth shaker, but a good trade for both sides.

There's no way it took the handcuffs off of them. Clarence Weatherspoon has a bad contract but they took back Moochie and Amaechi. Both of whom have bad contracts.

And Mooch's contract is a year longer than Spoon's.
