Adelman sounds clueless. He just repeats useless truisms like, "The guys just have to play better," instead of showing that he has any insight into WHY they're not playing well or any idea he knows what he's doing. I don't have a good feeling about this season....
Yao seems absolutely so upset and frustrated with the current situation. It's sad to see him look defeated. Adelman repeats the same things and never describes any problems. Scola is impressive by saying that he and everyone needs to continue to step up. I think he has showed up to play in a big way. Battier knows exactly what to say. I think he's a liability offensively and, now sadly, the best we have defensively. If we could just convince him to retire and be an incredible defensive assistant coach, that should be the goal.
That'd be the best case scenario for Battier and the Rockets. He's a liability out on the floor, but an asset behind the scenes.
I definitely agree. Simply the way he talks, the knowledge that he brings and can explain to the young players, is an invaluable, intangible asset that needs to be exploited.
I like how the thread got cut off and i was like all excited because it says "[ch 2 video] Rockets after..." and then when you go to garm, the missing pieces says "11/21 practice" Went from this to this in a matter of seconds..sigh just like the texans game today.
Most coaches aren't blessed with silver tongues or high iqs Most coaches are former players bud. See: Phil Jackson, d'antonj, Brooks, scott. I'd pick none even with their evidence of great seasons and good coaching credibility
Except if he can't get these lazy assholes on our team to play solid team defense now, considering how much Battier calls out the opposing team's sets and tells other people where to be on D, why would you think our defense would be any better with him no longer on the floor? Same applies to Hayes, since he's a great defender too. We have defensive monsters on our team but no one else seems to get it. If I were Budinger or something I'd be trying to absorb everything those guys say. There's no excuses, frankly. Battier and Hayes are the epitome of "you don't need athleticism, you just need hard work and smarts to play solid D."
Adelman's a dumb***. I'm tired of his questionable rotations, loyalty to old, washed-up vets, lack of clear solutions (as seen in the interview), and overall douchey demeanor. Let's clean house, and bring in a coach that acts like he gives a damn.
i am so hurt that i have decided to distract myself a little bit, this team should be so much better than they are now. before the season starts, the team talked about focusing on defense, but look at their defense now....... until this team holds an opponent under 90, i am not watching any rockets game....
well i think they can hold a opponent down to 90 IF they stop running and gunning and use up every second of the shot clock every possesion like in JVG era. But they dont have a good half court offense, our offense in the half court is pretty much let martin dive into people, and scola with 50 scoops, not really easybuckets for anyone since no one draws a double.
Some people misunderstand a role of a coach. He is not here to tell the public what he thinks the problem is, he is here to solve the problem. As Morey said, Adelman will probably be a HOF coach when it's said and done, his results speak for themselves and I mean we're talking about more than 1500 games, not 12. I think just like you sofa coaches, he knows the problem (or should I say HE knows the problem and not you), but he's not paid to explain it to the public. Everyone else was saying some general stuff, mental mistakes, play hard, open looks bla bla. You'll never hear Adelman or in fact any coach say that we don't run x, y, z plays correctly in the fourth, or he won't call out someone who forgot to set a screen when he should have and ditto on defense. No coach says that. So yes: at our understanding level: we have to play better. For you, it's the same as saying run better roll42 or some codeword like that.
