Entire 10 minute press conference: http://www.click2houston.com/video/15395267/index.html Morey talks about the Barry situation near the end.
Let's hope Gerald actually buys into everything he said. With some development and veteran leadership, he can be a peice for this team.
Thanks for the video! being in Dallas, rely on Clutchfans to provide me all of these types of vid clips. I really appreciate it. I liked Green's willingness to learn. Let's hope he can turn into a solid contributor. I have faith in both Jackson and Green.
Is Bobby Jackson playing today?? Man, i wanna see him on the court now!! As for Gerald Green, haven't seen much of him....so no judgment.
New Rockets arrive; GM awaits Barry's choice http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5566850.html With their first steps on the Rockets' practice court for Sunday's game-day shootaround, new Rockets acquisitions Bobby Jackson and Gerald Green said they noticed the difference between the Rockets and the younger teams they left. For Jackson, it means taking on a less vocal leadership role. "This is a veteran team," Jackson said. "Dealing with a young team like I was on in New Orleans, they would kind of turn it on, turn it off, turn it on. I had to keep reaffirming that you've got to come out and play hard every night. With this team, we have a lot of veterans who stand up and say something, so I don't have to be a guy who's vocal all the time." For Green, who has played in rebuilding situations in Boston and Minnesota, there was a different atmosphere. "The last two teams, we were kind of young teams," Green said. "Sometimes, you get to laughing and giggling and stuff. This shootaround was a lot more serious. We have something to play for. We're playing for a playoff spot. The last two teams, we were playing just to play. We had a lot of young guys who haven't developed. This shootaround was a lot more serious. This was a new experience for me." With his first game with the Rockets, Green took Kirk Snyder's place on the inactive list, along with the injured Steve Francis. With Green, the idea was to evaluate him in practices and workouts. "It gives us a chance to look at a young player with some physical skills," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "It's always good when you have a young talent who hasn't really had a chance or done something yet. Maybe this situation is going to be right for him. That's what we have to find out." Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, meanwhile, anticipates word from free-agent guard Brent Barry about his choice of teams either Monday or Tuesday, when he will be eligible to sign. Barry is considering the Rockets, Suns, Mavericks, Spurs and Celtics. "Lots of teams are in pursuit," Morey said. "We've made our best pitch. We're hoping to get the opportunity to sit down with him in person. Right now, Brent's trying to take time with his family to really think through a decision. We'll see where it goes from there. We should know in the next 24 to 48 hours what his decision is."
