Yep, that's just what I heard him say on ch 2. He said he believed Tracy has 3 good productive years left and they better take advantage of them.

    I agree.

Wow...So he will heal this summer. Good news. Any more details? Like why 3 not 4 or 2? How long is Tmac's contract? It's till 2010 right?

Good. I guess that affirms that Tracy won't retire. I'm tired of him always bringing up retirement.

Sounds reasonable. But hopefully in the mean-time McGrady and Yao will bring the championship to Houston. Tracy McGrady has been in the NBA for over 9 years - it has taken affect on his body. Even at the young age he is now, I don't think he has that many productive years left... hopefully i'm wrong. T-MAC has been battling with injuries - hopefully he will be in better shape and injury-free next season.

Kobe Bryant has also been in the NBA for over 9 years - and I think he is the complete opposite of McGrady. Kobe look great and hasn't been fighting a lot of injuries like McGrady has. Kobe Bryant look like he will be very productive for many years.

He's basing this on what exactly? When did he get his medical license?

It could be over tomorrow, or it could be over five-six years down the line, you just never know.

NBA careers are unpredictable to say the least, you can't predict injuries and you can't do anything about them, they're part of the game.

If we can get 3 years of McGrady producing somewhat similar to what he did in his first season in Houston, I would be ecstatic! (we have him under contract for 4 more seasons only if I am not mistaken).

Yao's a different story. He has 8 years of greatness left in him. He hasn't even started. Next year will be year 1.

I can understand McGrady's assessment. That seems about right.

That might be possible - if Yao doesn't face a career ending injury. In the NBA - anything is a possibility. Hopefully Yao will stay injury free - and play like he has in the past months. :)

    Can't wait for next season.

Whether Mcgrady has 3 good years left or 6 good years left really isn’t something I think should effect how the Rockets approach building the team. They still need to bring in young players, and develop them, even if it’s going to take a couple of seasons. This is especially true if Mcgrady really does show a sharp decline after 3 years. We’re going to need to have some players waiting in the wings to take over for him.

You can't compare Tracy to some of the iron men in this league, Kobe, AI, KG, etc.

I didn't see or hear the comment from Jeff, but I'm guessing he isn't thinking Tracy is going to be ready to retire after 3 years. I think that means he will be in his prime for about 3 more years, which should be about right. After that I think he'll still be a productive player, if healthy, but no longer be able to carry a team.

His last break is on his little toe after it was kicked. I wouldn't call that a foot problem necessarily. Let me hit someone's finger with a hammer and see if that's a hand problem.

I'll admit that the information about T-Mac's back this year has just been ridiculous. Chronic, not chronic, structural, non-structural whatever.

I don't care what our hopes and fears are. It's just stupid for a coach to say an almost 27 year old player has "3 good years" left. I'm sure T-Mac won't give a damn but what good does it do to forecast something like that?

I don't hate JVG but I can't believe how quick so many people here are to support anything that comes out of that mouth.

And nappdog chimes in with that he "kinda feels that way about Yao too".

Well given we don't have a starting 2, need 2 more point guards, have no prayer of moving JHo's contract and are seemingly desperate to dump Stro I calculate our odds of winning a championship in the next 3 years roughly at zero.

Damn, JVG really is going to quit, Les really is looking to sell, and this franchise is really suddenly a bad joke.

Oh well, JVG and Les will come out fine and most here are content. Carry on.

Well once TMac's greatness abates a bit, Yao will be the man. I've got no problem with that.

exactly. tmac has 3 years left as a superstar. he still has about 5 years left of being productive.

besides. when his contract runs out we should have plenty of capspace to find a replacement and make another run with yao.
