It's really obvious that we really need a true center for this season...I'm thinking of C's out there who are attainable and has a quite good contract...Haywood? I think he's expiring...we can give packages of expirings also like packages of Cook, Barry, etc..but i'm not sure if they're of equal value.

    We have no money left.

Andersen and Hayes will be our centers.

I expect to see scola to play some minutes at the C spot. we could see lineups like

    McGrady
    Ariza
    Battier
    Landry
    Scola

    for some matchups

That lineup would be awesome. Unlike Artest, Ariza is quick enough to guard PGs, so you could have Ariza guard the 1, have Battier guard the premier wing of the opponent and have Tmac guard the the wing left. On offense, it would be really funny seeing a pg guard Battier, Tmac or Ariza :D

I don't see why it's so obvious. In fact, I find it an absurd notion to think this way.

Thankfully, Morey understand that the "win now" mode is stupid when you have no talent. So we won't have to worry about the Rockets being the Astros v2.0.

i actually think scola will be the center this season.

if i had to guess, from the training camp notes on nba.com, i'd say this might be our lineup at least at the start of preseason:

    scola
    shane
    ariza
    lowry
    brooks

One of the things Elston Turner said in his interview was that if Andersen starts, Scola might be the guy who'll guard the Cs. So, even though Andersen will be the C in name, Scola would actually be taking more of a center role (primary low post option, probably best rebounder, guarding opposing C). Andersen will likely hang out more in the high post, facing the basket.

I don't think we'll see another big man coming in unless it is one of those

" Morey did it again!!!" moves.

That's exactly how it should be. Luis is the better post option, the better defender (although that's not saying much), and the better rebounder. I definitely like the idea since this would play to Andersen's strength which is shooting long range jumpers and passing from the high post.

It is a crazy idea to start Andersen. This team needs a center who could grap 8 plus rebounds and play a role on defense. Scolar would be fine to play 5, then Landry could start at 4.

I disagree with Landry starting at the four. I feel we would have no energy from the bench if we threw Landry in the starting 5. I think Landry a much more valuable player for the Rockets coming off the bench.

Yes i see us using that lineup in spurts in games. especially in the 4th.

I'm damn sure we can get Marcus Camby from the Clippers if we were willing to give up Battier.

"I'll tell you what, he (Artest) is the only guy I've ever seen who's able to guard an Aaron Brooks and then turn around two minutes later and guard Yao Ming. No one does that. And I've seen a lot of great defenders, so that's probably the highest compliment I can pay him."

The big problem with andersen is his ability of rebounding. I don't expect he could get 10 rebounds in NBA while he only got 5 in his previous team. He is not a NBA level player as a 7-feet center.

If he can get us 5-7 rebounds a game we will be fine. Scola has proven that he can grab 8-10 rebounds a game while Shane and Trevor could get 5-6 themselves. I don't think rebounding is going to be an issue with this team. The issue is going to be how to defend the paint.

But Artest would not be able to guard Brooks effectively. Sure he can try to do it, but he wouldn't be able to. Artest could not handle any of the quicker SG's in the league, what chances would he have against speedy point guards. Ariza on the other hand will give us that. If I'm no mistaken, I remember that Ariza did a good job on slowing down Tony Parker in years past. Ariza definitely has the length and speed to defend quicker point guards. The problem with Battier and Ariza is that neither are good defending bulky players like Melo, Odom, Pierce, Lebron, like Artest.

Not that crazy, he'll be ok on offense and on defense the team just has to look to rebound more....we have some good rebounders away from the center spot. Tmac's only been getting about 5 in houston, he realistically, if healthy, could grab closer to 7 a game. Trevor grabs about 4 in just 20 mins, if he's getting closer to 30 mins he too could get close to 7 per. Shane should also be able to grab one or two more a game. We just need Andersen not to completely suck, like 4 a game or something...if he can get 7-8 i think we'll be ok
