According to this article the Celtics may be looking to move Jeri Welsch due to the log jam of players at in the back court.

He is only 24 and has a nice outside shot and can play either of the guard positions.

Would part of the TE plus Spanioules (?) and a future pick be enough to cause Boston to consider a trade?

Honestly I don't think so. But if we could get him without having to give up a current player on the roster and use the TE and a pick it would good for us.

Danny Ainge must be the worse GM in the league. He is just terrible. My god, at least weisbrod has excuse of being a hockey guy and his team will probably make the playoffs this year. The celts are going nowhere but the bottom.

Why should we trade for Welsch when we already have Gaines?

Welsch has shown he can play in the league but Gaines hasn't.
I would love to see Gaines do well but Jiri could be useful for us.
I doubt if the Rockets will go after him though with Sura and Ward being on the team.

Give'm Lue, with his expiring contract. I think he would be a good pickup.

    Sura/Ward/Gaines
    TMac/Welsch
    JJ/Nachbar/Welsch
    Howard/MoT/Padgett
    Yao/Deke/Spoon

Welsch is a budding player in this league. He was suppose to be a tall point guard. but hes really a swingman with some point skills. He has the Boki effect. People wherever he plays, attach themselves to the guy, and bank on all his potential. he progressed nicely as a 2nd year player, had some breakout performances. I dont think we have anything to trade for the guy.

He's a nice player, but for some reason he is trade prone! I don't like the idea of trading for someone who just needs a shot when Gaines just needs a shot.

He is way better than Boki.

In 26.9 minutes per game, he averaged 9.2 ppg, 3.7 rebounds, shot 38% from 3 point land, and 1.3 steals per game.

He showed big improvement from his rookie year and should get better.

I'd like to get him, if we could do it without busting up the roster. Something along the lines of saleem's suggestion, maybe.

Boki was drafted right before Welsch. The difference is that Welsch really shined at his third team, while Boki is rotting on the bench.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting Welsch at all. Pretty surprised that Boston wants to move him.

I read this article also and had the same thought. I have never seen him play, butr know that he is highly thought of here at Clutchfans. On the other hand, if he is so good, why isn't Boston looking to move one of their other mediocre guards.

Welsch has been let go by what, four tems now. He must have some tragic flaw that only shows up after he is actuall on your team.

Because Ainge is an IDIOT GM.

Boston has been rebuilding since the aquisition Eric Williams.
Celtics have been rebuilding for the past 10 years. I dont think Danny boi realizes this. Again, Danny Ainge is one Bonehead.

You Houston fans should consider yourselves Lucky.

We have Spoon and M. Taylor can be given away !:p

While I'm not going to speak to Ainge's competence, or lack thereof as a general manager - how many horrible trades have been made because a coach or GM said, "I know more than that guy, I can make this bum a star"

Maybe Jiri just isn't that good, as isn't anything more than a below average swingman?

They're looking to give him up because they already have Paul Pierce and Ricky Davis who are better, and just drafted a pair of swingmen in the first round.
