Sorry if this was posted before, but I thought all the NBA Teams already had cheerleaders. This is the first celtics dancers team

You can see a video there.

It was an end of one era and the start of a new one and NBA TV’s cameras were there to witness it. NBA TV will present Dreaming Green: The Making of the Celtics Dance Team, a three-part series documenting the entire audition process as well as the preparations for the inaugural performance by the Celtics Dancers, beginning Monday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. ET and airing the next two Mondays at the same time.

With 16 NBA titles and 30 players enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Celtics are considered the most-storied franchise in NBA history. Whether it is legendary Hall of Fame Head Coach and team executive Red Auerbach and his victory cigar, the classic kelly green uniforms or the parquet floor of their home court, the franchise overflows with tradition. After years of following the notion that dancers and other ancillary game entertainment was unnecessary, the team has decided to introduce their first-ever dance team, becoming the last NBA franchise to do it and resulting in some interesting reactions from Celtics’ legends and opponents:

"I think he’d probably break his cane!"
-- Hall of Fame Center and Head Coach Bill Russell about Auerbach’s possible reaction to seeing the Celtics Dancers
    "I think it's long overdue."
-- Celtics great and current Golden State Warriors Head Coach Don Nelson

"I think it's great. The reality of it is entertainment is extremely important in today's sports."
-- Former Celtic and legendary Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson

    "I wonder what Larry thinks!"
-- Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Magic Johnson about the reaction of his longtime Celtics rival and friend Larry Bird

Dreaming Green is a behind-the-scenes look at the Celtics nationwide, five-city search for the best dancers in America, including interviews with dance team director Marina Ortega and hundreds of other women auditioning for a spot in the lineup. Told through the words of Ortega and seven young women from around the country striving for their lifelong dreams of becoming professional dancers, the documentary follows these women to their hometowns, delving into their lives on and off the court through in-depth interviews with family and friends as they chase their dreams.
