This should have been a payback game since the Wizards beat them a couple of days ago. The Celts were up 77-63 and pulling away. It looked like another example of the better team rising up and crushing the lesser team with defense in the 4th quarter. Then the Wizards closed the game on a 25-6 run. The Wizards have really quick hands and can play defense when they want to. In the last couple of minutes, the Celtics only got one good shot, which KG missed. So much for 70 wins. That was nothing more than a pipedream.
The Celtics are not that good. It gets all hyped up with a soft schedule and their adrenaline carried them through some competitive games. I am not even sure the Celtics will go to ECF. If ECF will be Pistons vs Celtics, Pistons will win 4-2.
The problem with the Celtics, is that they don't have a low post presence at all. As great as Garnett is, he's a jumpshooter. So there's no reliable inside shot to go to when other things don't work.
The Celtics have been riding high since the start. Like someone mentioned (I think it was Mike Wilbon) the real test is to see how this team will handle bad stretches and if they're able to play through them. This might be their first bump in the road/season.
They are still a hell of a good team. Not seventy win good but they'll win 60-65. They still have the best defense in the league and play hard. And they are still learning how to play together. The boredom of the long season is hitting them right now. People just wanna hate cause they don't want to see all the Boston teams win the title.
I don't care if they get 70 or not, but I do have money put down before the season started that they win at least 60.
I don't care what teams Celtics lost to,but I do care our team lost to them last time at the last minute! Sigh!
Doesn't mean anything at all. The Knicks also blew out the Pistons yesterday. When Rondo gets healthy and back to his normal self, the Celtics will be fine. Call me crazy but I say he's almost as important to them as Ray Allen. They need a new starting center and maybe some depth at PG.
