The guy who just bought the Celtics is a HUGE basketball fan and Celtics fan.

I don't know if he will be a good or bad owner, but he is going to spend money and is going to be heavily involved because he has wanted to be involved with the Celtics for like 50 years and supposedly has posted on Celtics fan boards.

Well, there are rumors JB could be a goner if they don't win a championship this year because their payroll simply doesn't make economic sense.

I remember everyone pounding the table to trade for him under the perception Boston wouldn't pay him that contract. I still have little interest in him though. Going into his age 29 season. Shooting 31.6% from three this season. Getting paid $60+ million for the last two years of his contract. He's a good player, but I still view him as one of the more overrated and overpaid players in the NBA.

Which is why would be traded instead of JT.

I will go on therecord now and say the Celtics WILL trade JB if they don't win the championship this year. I think doing so will save them $200 million per year.

He may be hard to move given his contract. They might not get much back in return--maybe basically just a salary dump. But you're probably right. You never know though, I didn't think Luka would ever be traded without requesting one either...

    nahhhh....

He would fetch good young players and picks and salary relief

For instance I could(would want to) see the Rockets offering Dillon/Reed/Cam/Jock/Phx picks for Jaylen

That cuts salary by almost 6mill. Jocks contract is non guarenteed so that cuts another 8mill. 14mill is who knows how much in luxury dollars.

IMO its more likely that they trade Jrue for salary relief

Brown is the same age as Booker even though it feels like Booker has been in the league forever. They're both at the borderline of being too old for our timeline (one year older and I wouldn't even consider it), and Brown is a worse fit than Booker, whose fit with our team I'm already not in love with. They both share the same problem of being, or in Booker's case, about to be, massively overpaid for guys who are more Robin than Batman.

I'm kinda out on trading for either one honestly. I'd rather just add a 40% on volume 3P shooter (either an upgrade to the starting lineup or a 6th man type) and see what our young core can do with improved spacing.

If a true superstar on the right side of 30 becomes available, sure, go all-in. Otherwise I'd say let's just hold onto most of our assets and be patient.

Jaylen fits this teams identity to a T tho. In terms of Booker vs Brown, I would rather have Brown for his defense and playoff experience.

I agree that he is a Robin, but we did ourselves a favor with the Sengun and Jalen under max deals. I don't believe his contract would cripple us, especially with Fred either walking or being significantly cheaper along with the outgoing salary.

Jalen, Alpi, Amen and Brown may all be Robins at the end of the day, but thats still a lot of talent.

    Notes:

    * Majority family owner: H. Irviging Grousbeck wanted to sell.
Dad Grousbeck is age 90 and want to plan his estate properly and cash out.
Son is current face governor: Wyc Grousbeck
Wyc likes his job, reluctant to sell.
    * Minority owner Pagliuca was the front runner but didn't get the final bid.

    * Pagliuca disappointed and surprised he didn't get it.
Either too poor or his relationship with the Grousbecks were not as tight.
    * Celtics sold to William Chisholm

    * Price
Expensive as Celtics roster expensive in near future and they don't own the arena.
Originally the price was projected to be in the 5b range, but sold for higher: 6.1b

    * Chisholm grew up in MA,
    * Money with a company that owns Security Softwares.
    * Company based in CA, but he may be more active in MA, now that he owns the Celtics.
    * Chisholm and Wyc agreed Wyc will stay on as governor (face owner) for next 3 years.

As far as C's shedding salary, the guess is role players first. Possibly Sam Hauser. If more, then maybe Jrue or White. The J's are unlikely, but one never knows.

Between getting up in age (NBA years) and being owed quite a bit of money, I don't have it as easy for Boston to trade Jrue for salary relief unless they are including a decent amount of incentive. Maybe they can find a clueless GM to make a deal favorable to Boston, but that seems unlikely to me.

    Jrue Holiday

    Season.......Age..........Salary.....
    2025 -26......35.......$32,400,000
    2026 - 27.....36.......$34,800,000
    2027 - 28.....37.......$37,200,000
