I am looking to buy a new cell phone for my mom, she has one of those old ass Nokias. Even though those Nokia phones are durable they are outdated. I wanna get her something thats atleast bluetooth enabled but simple.
Anyone know of a store that sells phones without service? Or a place I can get a deal?

I went to the mall and all the little kiosks make you pay like 350 for a phone that would cost you 50 with contract. Unbelievable.

?? If they sell cell phones, they sell the service. The only place that fits your request is ebay.

Sounds like you want the contract price of a phone w/out the contract. Also, you have to get a phone that supports your carrier. Tmobile and ATT can interchange. You can't with Sprint and Verizon.

You're not going to get both. You either get a phone at a contract price, with a contract...

Or you're going to get a phone at retail price, with no contract.

Yeah that or you know somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody. Why not just renew her contract?

Why are you saying that her phone is outdated?

    Can it make phone calls?
    Can it receive phone calls?

If both answers are "YES", then it is NOT outdated.

Find out what service she has. Just about every cell phone company will give you a new free phone with a new contract signup.

You can sometimes get a prepaid phone (Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc have them) and then switch the old phone out with the new one. No contract needed for prepaid phones, and they're generally somewhere between 30-100 bucks. Which service does she have?

Here comes Swoly with his not so smart-ass comments. She has Tmobile. So the only phones that would work would be a Cingular/ATT phone. She has her own account with Tmobile, she just needs a new phone.

T Mobile will give you a decent new phone every two years. If she has an old Nokia, chances are she's been there longer than two years. Just have her renew her contract and get a free phone.

If she's been using an old phone for a long time...chances are she's probably pretty comfortable with it. I wouldn't make a new purchase on her behalf.

She'd probably be thankful of course...but may not like it and not mention it to you. Older people are weird about new technology. Just my opinion...but buying someone a new phone without their input is really hard.

    Ha. I meant a " ;) " smiley, not a " " smiley... :D

Dude. Just say "she wants a new phone." You didn't have to say "it is outdated..." 'cuz that ain't true... it still works, right? ;)

YOU want the bluetooth for her... I bet she doesn't even know what THAT means but YOU want to buy it for her... isn't that right?

You won't find any phones for cheap around town with out a contract. No way. You might get lucky on ebay with a nice phone, but more than likely you'll be shelling out some $$$.

Just go to Target or Wal-Mart, go to the prepaid phone section. They'll have a few TMobile (it's called TMobile to Go) phones to choose from. Buy one, switch out the SIM card, and that's it. No need to deal with customer service or sign a new contract.

She may be due for an upgrade. If she is willing to extend her TMobile contract, you can just pay the upgrade price for whatever phone she'd like.

    Bingo!

I'm not sure what the original question was. Just get her a new contract! Easy problem solved!
